Writing cover letters can be a pain. I personally think having a tailored cover letter makes a huge difference in job applications. πŸ”‘ Do you feel the same way about the impact of cover letters?

I believe that if you develop the cover letter based on transcribed input from a human, this could be effective. However, if AI is used to fully generate the cover letter, it might end up sounding very generic and AI-generated. In my opinion, this could potentially work against your favor.

In the past six months, I have been researching how to integrate AI into recruitment or job search scenarios. Through a lot of historical materials and user research, I can tell you two valuable information: 1. The cover letter must be processed by the applicant. You can use AI to generate outlines and suggestions, but you need to reorganize and retouch them yourself. Because companies that value cover letters will definitely read them carefully. And there is no good AI application that can generate a cover letter that feels real. 2. If you want to do AI scenarios related to job hunting, then a cover letter is not a good direction. You can think about the interview aspect.

I'd be wary of fully AI-generated cover letters - they could come across as generic and impersonal. Using AI to refine and polish a cover letter based on your own input seems safer and potentially more effective. You want to showcase your unique voice, experience and fit for the role.
