(Google Analytics vs Simple Analytics) Is customer data more important or privacy?

We all as marketers know how powerful the data is from google analytics. We get a lot of insights into what the users are doing across touch-points. But we also know that Google analytics doesn’t have the best reputation for privacy. At ente we use Simple Analytics. It is an alternative that comes to my mind which tries to give simple data about our websites without tracking users and breaching their privacy. The data isn’t very rich but it protects customer privacy. I was wondering what you all think about data vs privacy. Also, suggest other tools that might do a better job than simple analytics but protects users data. I would really appreciate your views on this

In our case, we don't collect any product analytics either, because we are constantly talking to our users (over https://ente.io/discord) and that gives a strong signal on what their expectations out of the product are. Apart from Simple Analytics, there are a bunch of open-source analytics services out there (Fathom, Plausible, Matomo) that you can even self-host to make sure you are in control of the collected data. In our case, Simple Analytics has given a great balance in terms of privacy, simplicity and user experience :)
