Is social media marketing a waste of time??

I don't see any post here talking about social media growth for SaaS tools. Has no one successfully gained paying customers using social media? Even those that have social media management tools rely on SEO. Is it that there's no return on investment or someone is hiding the good stuff? In the spirit of full disclosure, I'm learning about social media marketing. but there's little information on its effect on SaaS businesses. Or is social media that ineffective? Lots of questions on my mind. Feel free to share your thoughts and experiences below?

I don't think it's a waste of time. A lot of people have made it a waste of time by relying too much on AI and taking the soul out of the copy they write or the posts they make. Social Media Marketing done with an intent/purpose/goal and understanding of your audience will always work better than SEO in the short term and even in the longer term for smaller stage companies with less domain authority.

Social media marketing can surely give you a strong boost, but it's important to keep some things in mind. First, pick the right social network for your audience - no need to spread yourself thin across all platforms, focus on one or two where your customers are most active. For instance, LinkedIn often works well for SaaS businesses. Then, make a solid content plan and stick to it diligently. Consistency in posting and ensuring the content you put out is of high quality and truly useful for your clients is paramount. It's more beneficial to share one meaningful post each week rather than daily content without substance. Moreover, remember to leverage all the tools such as SEO, PPC, blogging, and more, for a comprehensive approach.

1- Short answer is: this depends on how you define social media marketing, which channel you are focusing on and whether or not your audience is actually active on social. 2- Simply posting on social channels won't be enough - consider combining social media marketing with influencer marketing, or community marketing for quicker wins. Goals is to create buzz on these channels. 3- Find newer social channels that are still blue ocean space like Thread or TikTok. (BTW Vizard helps marketers to create short form video content for TikTok. Tons of B2B marketers are using us to experiment with TikTok and Linkedin video posts. Simple and straightforward answer is no. You just have to know how to use it properly:)
It is my least favorite form of marketing but its still a number 1 awareness channel

I don't think so. Social media marketing is relatively new however I feel like the reward outweighs the risks. We launch next week, would love your support! (https://www.producthunt.com/prod...)

Social media are just a channel to reach your target audience. Same as search engines or podcasts. Social media as a channel don't make that things work. You make things work. Majority of people aren't in-market for your solution, but if you are able to build your brand awareness among your target audience and gain credibility, and you will be circling back to them once in a while using social media ads, your chances to attract customers through that channel rises. Look up "Omnipresent Content Strategy" on YouTube ;-)

It's not a waste of time. It just requires smart efforts as well. The channel you post, campaigns you run, your brand tone, and everything else can make a huge difference if done properly.
