I've used avatars.io for many projects - most recently https://wayback.4ty2.fun. It's a super simple image API, and I can build cool live previews of profiles with it too 👇

Support for more avatar services like https://avatar.tobi.sh and http://avatars.adorable.io would be super cool 🔥

Pros:

Super simple API, works with multiple socials

Cons:

The client libraries don't work, Github is down

I had a problem with Twitter avatars dissapearing when users change their picture. Avatars.io solved my problem

Will work even if the user changes his avatar

I use it for one of my project, but recently, Avast consider avatars.io to be a malicious link and throw tons of warning message to my visitor's browser 😕

is this project still maintained?

This product is down today, don't know if it's just a temporary issue or if has been deprecated

Looks like it’s down ;( Can anyone advice an alternative to avatars.io? Seems to be nothing like that for free an simple ;(
