Hey everyone! ✨🎄 I built this app over the past month with two other friends at Georgia Tech. Here's some backstory: we had the idea after hearing that OpenAI had launched a public API offering the same tech from the ChatGPT Advanced Voice Mode announced earlier this year. We decided to leverage that and ask it to make a realistic Santa Claus impression. And it worked wonders — you can see it for yourself. We have also used the function calling abilities of the API to do something pretty cool: when a child is talking to Santa, it can identify its wishes and add them to a secret list that only parents can access. @alex_fino We actually found out that many apps that offer similar features (yet with worse implementations) tend to have stable downloads over the year with peaks during Christmas. We’re probably gonna turn it into a project that we pour our energy into every Christmas season and see what we can do with that.

I think this is a GENIUS idea, I love the fact that now parents can use AI to do espionage on presents for Xmas - Does the parent have the ability to choose the accent etc. & are multiple languages possible? I think the parents might be taken aback when their child asks for like ten ponies & a castle :)) Hope the launch continues to go well!!

@cranqnow Thank you so much Sam! Although we haven't added support for any language besides English on the app itself, the Realtime API is as flexible as the ChatGPT Advanced Voice Mode. So if someone wants Santa to speak another language, they can just ask for that.
