Build your audience by building in public

We miss so much of the builders journey before, during and after a launch. So we created a platform focused for building in public. Instantly get noticed by an audience of 19,000 with weekly featured posts, and gain a following that has ZERO platform lock-in.

As many of you know 'building in public' is a topic that's so close to my heart. I am super bullish on its power and importance in the next decade. I'm always looking to check out and try new platforms that can help founders in their journey of building in public. When I came across "bipp'd", I was immediately intrigued. Check out the launch and share what you think with the creators (Jeremy and Michael) who're here to help answer any questions you may have.

@thisiskp_ Thank you KP for the hunt! Had to be no better person on the planet to help launch this effort. You're a huge inspiration and leader in the build in public space. Thankful for how you have helped aspire more Founders, Builders and Makers to start building in public.

@thisiskp_ Congratulations on the launch! bipp'd could be addressing the need-gap: 'No standard structure for building in public' posted on my problem validation forum - https://needgap.com/problems/281... . You're welcomed to explain how bipp'd addresses that problem there, So those who need it can find it easily.

Love this idea of leveraging the audiences of popular accounts to help out other accounts!

Big fan of platforms to support makers (surprise!). Curious if you considered other content formats, @thejeremyredman. The freeform "short blog" might be ideal, but I wonder if more constraints would make it easier to contribute and consume.
Michael Novotny
@thejeremyredman @rrhoover Hey Ryan! Thanks for checking out the product. I'll let @thejeremyredman take that as he had the vision on this product as I have just helped building it out. But I love the idea of more constraints. Taking your idea further, what if we only display build in public updates for 24 hours on a main feed and to see the entire story then you would have to follow a builder? So that each day there was a singular focus on updates for that day. And it could drive deeper engagement to follow others story more deeply instead of superficially like on Twitter. Another thought is restricting what topics can be posted to have a narrower focus and appeal really well to one audience instead of many. Curious to learn more from you! @rrhoover

@thejeremyredman @rrhoover love your POV!! I’m building we wanted to focus the contributor. We set up some other constraints in addition to 1200 characters like plain text editor, no comments, and no “likes” as to help people not focus entirely on vanity metrics. Hope you give it a try!!! Lemme know your thoughts when you post

@thejeremyredman @nocodejeremy sometimes keeping it open-ended is the right way to start so that you can adapt the experience based on the pattern and ways people are using the platform. More broadly, I've found BJ Fogg's Behavior Model a simple and useful framework for evaluating these types of things: Some questions to ask: Who are you building for? What's their motivation? What friction points do they have using bipp'd today (not just physical friction but also cognitive friction, such as fear of judgment)?
Michael Novotny
@thejeremyredman @nocodejeremy @rrhoover Very helpful points. @rrhoover Love BJ Fogg. B=MAT. We need to cycle through this a few times thinking through how folks who use it and what they need and compare to what the product offers. I see definite ways to improve communicating that and enabling that in the platform. (1) Ability - do we make it easy for folks to post an update? (2) Prompts - what external triggers are we creating to help our users build internal triggers to post their updates so that it becomes a habit? And taken further in the hook model, what is the reward the user gets when they post something. Do they get a like? Investment, once they post does it set a up for the next external trigger. (3) Motivation - The purpose of sharing your updates is to build an audience. How easy does the platform make it to gain followers? Lots of questions and improvements I think we can learn from this. This is our v1 and we have a lot of room to improve. But this is a perfect product to apply what I have learned from the book Hooked. We have yet to build a strong hook behavioral model into the product. Something we will explore. Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts Ryan. Getting to jam with you on this is something Ill remember for a long time❤️.

@nocodejeremy @rrhoover YES!!! great representation! i havent seen this in some time; serves as a great reminder! Obviously, growing your audience is huge. OWNING it is an even greater motivator. So many folks are shy of bipping (building in public) bc they're afraid of the judgement. So i agree with you. Would love to know if you sign up!!!

@thejeremyredman the mono font stands out and the amount of whitespace is just right in my opinion. well done!
