Hey Hunters, My name is Martin, co-founder of Bluejay, the world's first smart mount. More than 80% of people use their phones while driving and more than 90% admit it is not what they should be doing. We are trying to tackle this problem by making a smart mount that through a dedicated app helps you drive safer and with fewer distractions. It is also the first phone mount that will help you find your car in a parking lot through unique Bluetooth Smart beacon and GPS hybrid system. Bluejay is made of carbon fiber and aluminium, so it embodies the lines and design of modern automobile industry. Thank you so much for hunting us @ryan_j_walker and @charlieirish I would love to hear your thoughts so feel free to AMA.

Great product! I especially like the design and integration with iPhone app. Which other products, besides Hue and Nest, can be used with the app?
Martin Mikeln
@matick Thank you! :) Bluejay connects natively with Spotify, SoundCloud, Deezer, iHeartRadio, Rhapsody and Apple Music for music services and with Hue, Nest, SmartThings, WallyHome and Rainmachine for smart home systems. There is also integration with other apps, for example: Expensify, Concur and License+.

Love the design and the fact I can use it to find my car ... but I just don't get it. What is so different from my existing infotainment system in the car?
Martin Mikeln
Hi @ashley_evans :) Infotainment systems are getting better and better every year, but they are nowhere near as smart as your smartphone. They are rigid in terms of 3rd party app integrations, lack updates and are always outdated compared to your phone. Even if you use systems like Android Auto and Car Play, they do not mirror all the functionalities from your phone. We made Bluejay so that it enhances your driving experience with the smartest driving app on the market which is open to 3rd party app integrations. We also use your existing Bluetooth connection with your car, so hands-free mode and music streaming to your stereo works like charm through our app. Bluejay is also the only system that can sense your presence and can therefore offer you true seamless experience - app opens automatically when you put your phone on the mount, it will guide you back to your car if you forgot where you parked, it will start metering your parking ticket automatically when you leave the car and much more. Because there is integrated high sensitive accelerometer inside, we can also detect car crash and send distress messages.

Hey Martin, BlueJay looks great! I'm wondering, what was the most challenging part of building BlueJay smart mount?
Martin Mikeln
@markoxvee Hi Marko, thank you :) The hardware itself actually ... making Bluetooth Smart beacon with range of more than 70m, battery life of at least 1.5 years and detecting car accidents with low latency was the hardest part, but we managed it. A lot of trial and error in building and tuning firmware :)

@mikeln_martin this is looking great! would love to connect, as I'm also in the automotive hardware space.

@shayneosullivan thank you! :) Awesome, I have followed you on Twitter, so you can send me a DM there.

nice. i already use a magnet as car mount and it s by far the easiest and most convenient way to mount your phone in a car. but i worry about your app: it s not enough to have everything integrated, as you drive the experience has to be really designed so that you don t spend time with small touch targets to manipulate the app. I think this is what will make the difference in the long term because the mount can be pretty quickly commoditized
Martin Mikeln
@ourielohayon you are totally right! That's why we are putting all the effort in the easiest and safest UX we can deliver. So majority of integrations are optional and each one is simplified to the bare bone. You can see in our video there are always just a few big buttons on the screen. We have also made a lot of improvements over the UI presented in the video, so it is even easier to use now.
