A simple coffee calculator to help you brew a great cup of coffee with whatever measurements you have available. Use grams, cups, fluid ounces, or tablespoons to calculate either water or beans for your ideal brew ratio.
Hey Product Hunt!
I made this tiny little coffee calculator to help those who love to measure when they brew.
At home I brew coffee with the comfort of a gram scale and my trusty Hario v60. But when I'm on the road I don't always have those familiar tools. I struggle with even basic coffee machines because they all have their own measurements they call "cups" – no two are alike!
This coffee calculator helps you figure out the right brew ratio with whatever measurements you have available – whether you have a gram scale, tablespoons or cups, measuring should be simple!
I've launched it on my personal site for free, but also on the Google Play store for a tiny one-time fee for the convenience of having it as an app, keeping track of your previous brew across sessions.
Hope you enjoy!
This is a really great idea. As a big Nespresso drinker, it would be cool if there was a function for calculating how large a coffee you can make depending on different capsules as well!
@calum very interesting! I know next to nothing about Nespresso capsules – do they come in fairly standard sizes? I was considering adding a feature that lets you add your own (named) measurement. Could something like that help or too much effort?
Any timeline on an iOS version? If you included a timer, it'd be the perfect app that I'd use daily.
Once you start dialing in your recipe, you can't go back to just estimating your daily brew.
@baotri I like where your head is at. Love the timer idea too – I've heard that feedback a couple times. :)
I have an iOS version built and am preparing it for the App Store review process. No timeline as I haven't gone through testing phases for the iOS version yet – DM me on Twitter (@mshwery) if you'd be interested in beta testing it!

Although I'll always measure in grams, I'm really happy to see a brew calculator that allows users to measure by the spoon. The reality is, most coffee drinkers aren't using scales, timers etc. So when someone wants to dip their toe into the 3rd wave coffee scene, this allows them to play with one variable (dose) without having to fork out for new gear. A great stepping stone in my opinion, or a minor, non-intrusive step to improve their already existing coffee routine.
@adityavsc hahaha. love it. Another coffee is calling me right now too.

I find most coffee too strong, so I am always cutting mine with hot water. I grind 2 tablespoons at medium grind with 10 cups of water. Perfect for me, but the variety of bean and fineness of the ground also contributes to the taste. So many variables. ☕️
