#buildinpublic is a movement of makers publicly sharing as they work on their projects. This website lists all the #buildinpublic tweets in an easy-to-read feed. Discover what other makers are up to and add your own updates by using the #buildinpublic hashtag
Hey PH 👋
I'm super excited to share my latest project with you all!
In the last few years more and more people have discovered the benefits of building in public. Sharing your progress as you go along. Whether it's growing a business, learning a new skill, or just working on your hobby project.
Building in public lets you find other makers. Receive early feedback. Get held accountable. Maybe even build your own audience so you'll already have bunch of potential customers lined up when you launch.
Fun fact: @rrhoover wrote about this back in 2014!
These days, a lot of this is happening on Twitter and people are using the hashtag #buildinpublic to connect.
Unfortunately there wasn't a great way to see all these tweets in one place. Sure, there's Twitter Search, but that isn't really optimized for exploration.
That's why I built buildinpublic.com
It indexes all the #buildinpublic tweets and shows them in an easy-to-navigate feed. It's a great way to discover what others are working on and get inspired to do the same.
It also automatically generates user profiles showing just someone's #buildinpublic tweets. Something that isn't really possible on the Twitter site.
If you're intrigued, I suggest to give it a try yourself. What are you working on today? All you'll have to do is post a tweet with #buildinpublic and you'll automatically appear on the site 😃
@marckohlbrugge Congratulations on the launch! I'm already in the list.
#buildinpublic could be addressing the need-gap 'No standard structure for building in public' posted on my problem validation platform - https://needgap.com/problems/281... .
You're welcomed to explain how #buildinpublic can address that problem, So those who need #buildinpublic can find it easily.
@marckohlbrugge Love the philosophy, and I also love the website showcasing it. Is that something you built custom for #buildinpublic, or is there some kind of product or service that creates a similar Twitter hashtag dashboard? I could see that being applicable to many different use cases, and many different hashtags.
@nathan_babcock Hi Nathan, yes it's custom built. You're the first one to suggest applying it to other use cases, although I haven't heard more concrete suggestions yet. Curious to hear how any hashtags you think this same type of website would work well for?
This is an AWESOME idea. It would be cool to be able to filter through these posts somehow (i.e. launches, status updates, tips, etc.)
Congrats on the launch and best of luck!
@kylekrzeski Yes, 100%. There doesn't seem to be a clear convention around marking #buildinpublic tweets in such ways, so we'll need to figure out the best way to do this. But I'm sure we can figure out something to categorise the tweets.
