Just gave this a try, and it's an interesting idea. I don't like the idea of companies checking social media of employees but they can if they want I guess. However, it brought up completely unrelated profiles for my test emails that I tried! It seems like the attempts to match are based on the username being the same as the email? So if I put in the email is for example jake@example.com, it comes up with all the `jake` usernames it can find, which are not at all associated to the email. If I got rejected from a company because they had found and acted on social media or things that weren't actually me, I'd be absolutely fuming. I guess I would be more mad at the company for falling for it, but the tool plays a part too. If I were hiring and saw this I would likely realise it wasn't the person, but that then also takes away the point of using this tool. Are there other options to correlate the email with accounts? Or maybe like a rating of the correlation?

@jknlsn This tool is just to shortlist the profiles that still have to be checked manually, and if the person in charge can't identify the right accounts then he/she can do the same without any tool, and it is not a secret that companies check the candidates behaviour in the web. By the way people used to register in social networks using their personal emails and usually it is their nicknames, so emails will look like jake.nelson@gmail.com

Completely same experience. All are irrelevant profiles on 10 emails I checked. Absolutely useless as gives just random results. Takes email, extracts username and crawls 10 social networks. Great PoC, but nothing works really:)

@jknlsn @saslanyan still, if this turn up with multiple fake or false entries that remove you from a shortlist it still is not a good starting point

@sassun right, but this public data isn't exactly public in the sense, this tool aggregates data that the email holder would maybe not consent to being public, they may have setup an account on a website a long time back and forgotten about it. I hope I made some sense here!

@prabhav_pandey Makes me question Product Hunt and the legitimacy of the comments. The only thing that came up is gravatar, and gravatar is public where the email is shared so services can get your pictures. Emails are usually kept private, just like the password. Email is part of identification key to log in to a website. That's why a lot of services keep emails secret, they show first letter and the last few letters maybe and the middle is blurred. Services like Facebook, google, my webapps etc... you can't possibly harvest someone emails if they are hidden, unless they are shared publicity then you might see them sure. or if you break to their database. So overall this is a useless site that doesn't work - it works in showing emails assigned to a social media accounts where the email is public, or maybe, maybe if the email address is shared/cached on some social media. Suprised this got 341 upvotes. Its a launch of a product that doesn't work and people still upvote and congratulate. Might as well make a website for a banana and build an audience like that. I'm even more surprised this got product of the day in 3rd place. Fishy.

Tried it out by searching my email and most the the links are dead or not even me. Seems like it is way too lenient. I type in my email and it just gives me random people called Pablo everywhere.

@pablo_fatas It works better when typing personal email or nickname, most of the people use the same nickname in their social networks, and very few register with their business or customized emails, but at the same time there is a lot of room for improvements.

@saslanyan I typed in my personal email. You can check it out for testing if you want: pablo.fatas@gmail.com. The facebook is right but a lot of the rest are not. Feel to use it and check out why it is picking up other accounts :)

Firstly, it seems to be really of use, especially in a day when it's really important, what's inside candidate's head. But on the other hand, it's "big brother watching you" and other too-close-to-punish-for-mindcrimes practice. So that's what I think about this product: it's nice but it would be better if there never was a kind of necessity for such products to appear :/ upvoted

Hey @saslanyan, just had a look and did a search against myself. I can see you've locked out the items after X listings but if you inspect elements and remove the hidden class from the rest you can see all results without logging in. A possible solution would be to not display the locked items within the page and instead show the site icons with the found results?
