Hey everyone! Handuo here, on behalf of our team. We've been preparing for this launch since a couple of months ago, but we have been updating our product constantly, always thinking it was not ready to launch. So we rescheduled the launch date again and again until we confused ourselves. Today’s launch was actually an accident. We were about to reschedule it again but messed up the timezone... However, it looks like a happy one with all your support and comments! Copus started as a collaborative science fiction project two years ago. As creators ourselves who had so much fun being inspired and inspiring others, we found that collaboratively created works do not have a proper place to be displayed. Furthermore, there is no fair way to monetize them because everything is a remix. So we set out to create a product to solve our own problem. We eventually discovered that the entire Internet is a collaboratively creative piece with no proper content connection and monetization solution. In the meantime, we evolved into Copus and Fractopus (the protocol behind it, which you can find at https://www.fractopus.net/). The idea of Copus and Fractopus is to foster an "inspiration network" where content creators can share exposure and earnings with each other, so they can be free from platform gating and cuts. Everyone becomes the exposure provider for all of their branch pieces, while the source pieces get rewarded for being inspiring. Content consumers will be able to trace the inspiration thread and understand where each piece of content comes from. In this way, we connect fragmented information on the Internet to create connected knowledge. While we understand that onboarding people to a new platform is tough, next we’ll create a browser extension so that content published on any platform can connect into our network. At the same time, we designed an economic system to power and own the network in a decentralized way, so we don't become the gatekeeper that we set out to bypass. After all, thank you so much for your support. We’ll launch again soon with new designs and features. If you have any thoughts about our product, feel free to drop me an email at handuo@server31.io. Thank you! Handuo & S31 Labs Team

Well done. Love the idea of an inspiration network where creators can share exposure and earnings while maintaining a fair and transparent connection to their sources. Also I'm impressive to see how your team is addressing the challenge of content fragmentation and platform gating. Congrats on the launch!

Congrats on the launch. This not only fosters a more collaborative creative environment but also brings fairness and transparency to the process of content creation. It's a refreshing take on enabling creators to build on each other's work while maintaining transparency and respect for original content. Great job to the team!

Sounds like Copus is really flipping the script on content ownership! Excited to see how this decentralized model plays out. 🚀 #MakersUnite

@robertthomas2 As content creators ourselves, we figure that we don't really care much about "copyright". We care about "authorship" and being fairly rewarded when our content is used. The idea of content ownership is built on the premise that creators need to be incentivized by ownership to create. However, almost all great creations are passion-driven and based on the creator' vocation to create. So maybe it's time to change the "copyright" game :)

Congrats on the launch! Not exactly sure how sharing content as sources works without being proven that it's legit but I do see potential
Handuo
@glen_dsouza_1 Hi and thank you! We designed it for the branches to be able to change its sources. Economically speaking, it is to the branch's best interest to connect to the legit sources because it gains exposure and its own legitimacy by doing that.

Sounds intriguing! How does Copus plan to ensure that revenue-sharing models benefit all participants fairly? Also, what kinds of content do you envision thriving in such a decentralized environment? Excited to see how this will disrupt traditional publishing models!

@dance17219 Thank you! Addressing inspiration is a subjective thing so we designed it as a two-way incentives. The sources provide exposure to the branches while the branches provide revenue stream to the sources when they earn. In terms of mechanism, the more earning a branch brings to the source, the higher rank it will get in the source's branches section. In terms of mutual appreciation, the branches want to connect to piece that they actually relate to so viewers who like the source piece have a better chancing liking them. Creator of the source piece also has the power to feature or cut a branch.
