I was bored with the usual routes for my daily walk, so I made this "Random Adventure Generator" that creates a bunch of random coordinates to go to. When you reach one of the coordinates, you level up and a new set of coordinates is generated.

@sebastianstamm I will be honest, I like the idea and see lot of potential improvements/development for it. Nonetheless, when you leave near the see .. I guess I need a boat? ^^ cf : https://ibb.co/0cLD8yb
@hypeeo1 Or maybe a helicopter ;) The algorithm does not discriminate. The coordinates might be in a field, a forest, a city or yes, in the middle of the sea. Getting to it is part of the adventure. But since there are multiple destinations for each level, you can choose one that is easy to reach.

@sebastianstamm love it. thanks. Btw I'm sure you already thought of it and may be don't see it this way at all but I see a strong use case for people travelling (in a touristic manner) and where the destinations could be (famous or less famous) places (from monument, beach to restaurants) to visit. Those same destinations could be even added by the community itself making your app community built and a strong nice to have when visiting a foreign country and wishing to see not only the main thing recommended on Google but may be the less famous (shall I say hidden?) places.
@hypeeo1 Thanks for the idea! I am currently not considering going in this direction as it would add bias towards urban hubs, which I would like to avoid.
Everything that fights boredom and makes people exercise is something that I like.
I really like the idea and I hope this product finishes in at least top 3 today!
@ictoba Thank you! I find the combination of gamification and outdoor activities intriguing.
Before building EarthQuest, I played some other geolocation games, but was always annoyed that they require a lot of interaction. Maybe it's just me, but I find it awkward to stand around outside and having to interact with my phone for several minutes before moving on to the next goal. So for EarthQuest it's just: "Go to this coordinate; touch the Level Up button; Go to the coordinate for the next level". This let's you focus on your surroundings and get moving.

I get bored fast following the same routine or route in this case. This product looks fun and will add excitement to my everyday life :) Congrats on the launch.
Thanks for checking out my product! While building it I already discovered some nice hidden places in my neighborhood that I would have completely missed if the algorithm didn't nudge me to go there.
The locations of the randomly generated coordinates change every day so that you can go outside every day and have a new experience and discover new places. Also, all players have the same coordinates, so when playing with your friends, you all can go to the same places!
You might notice that the difficulty increases very quickly. This is because I found out that after a couple of weeks, the early levels start repeating because you have been everywhere in your immediate neighborhood. So I wanted to quickly include places that are a bit farther away. If I just go for a walk, I usually reach level 2 or 3 if I am lucky with the coordinates. Levels 4 and 5 are well suited for a bike tour and if you want to reach level 6 and onwards, you have quite a journey ahead of you.
Those higher levels are also good for the monthly challenge where coordinates change every month instead of every day. In fact, I am planning to go on a level 6 adventure this weekend.
Anyway, thanks again for checking out EarthQuest, maybe you find the time to try it out when you go for a walk next time, and if you do: Please let me know what you think - and which level you reached :)
It's one of my most ambitious projects so far, so I really appreciate your feedback!
Really fun product concept! Congrats on the launch!
The experience was smooth for me and the tutorial was nice. I would love the feature to be able to set a distance and see all the generated pins that are that distance, +/- .25mi or so, from my location. Looking forward to seeing how it evolves!

Curios, how do you protect against sending people to dangerous locations?
@matthiasiam Good question! While the locations are randomly generated, every level contains multiple coordinates and players only need to reach one of them. So if a specific destination is too difficult or dangerous to reach, players can choose one that is easier.
Of course players should not enter restricted areas or break into someones home just because the coordinate is there. Therefore players don't need to be exactly on the given coordinate, it's enough to be within the threshold radius to win a level.
@matthiasiam I was wondering the same - maybe it would be nice to collect some data from users on their specific goals (e.g reviews, comments…) to be able to filter out some unwanted locations and increase the quality of suggestions over time - in any case, the concept is really nice! Love the different levels and it might be a good tool to explore different places while travelling as well…
