👋 Hi Product Hunt Community!
I wanted to make a super fun version of pong that could be played in a few different ways with a friend either in the same room or across the world. Turned out it's harder than it looks!
🏓 Pong has simple game mechanics, but because of the fast pace, it's a huge challenge to create a great online multiplayer version, where a few milliseconds of latency makes the difference between a score or a hit. I spent a lot of time fine tuning the prediction algorithms so that the game stays in sync over the internet while the ball is flying super fast on two screens. Its a cool way to literally feel the power of the internet.
🪐 🏒 I decided to take it one step further and added a "space hockey" mode so two people can play against each other on 1 device. I haven't seen very many games like this, but I've had a lot of fun playing the kids on this mode while building and they seem to enjoy playing against each other. Super fun on a tablet. Oh and shoutout to the Hubble space telescope for the beautiful images you'll see rotating each time a round is won.
📲 Get4way plays perfectly in the browser on both mobile and web (keyboards are well supported) and I'm looking forward to porting this into the app stores soon where it will benefit from no address bars and haptics. For now, I'm just super excited to share this with you. I hope you have fun with it and I'd love your feedback to incorporate into the upcoming app releases. Thanks for checking it out!
