Hi Product Hunt! πŸ‘‹πŸ» I’m Dora, the co-founder & CEO of imagiLabs, the startup behind the imagi app! Thank you so much to @amrith for hunting this for us. imagiLabs is building the only mobile-first community targeting 300 million pre-teen girls worldwide, with the goal of encouraging them to start coding. Our imagi iOS app has recently gone through a major makeover, and now introduces Python through a visual and gamified learning journey, where colorful pixel art can be both created and shared. Given our mission of increasing diversity among technologists, the app was created with and for girls, but is loved by girls, boys, nonbinary kids, and parents alike! The imagi app promotes: 🎨 Creative self-expression ✨ Confidence grounded in coding skills 🀝 Community and inclusivity If you have a young budding coder in your life, we’d love it if you could introduce them to the imagi app, and help them gain some coding superpowers! 🦸 If you have feedback or thoughts about the app and our concept we would love to hear about them in the comments! If you made it this far we love you! Hugs, Dora and the imagi team

Has been so impressive to watch Dora build Imagi. We first met when she did a talk at my conference (here if anyone wants to watch https://youtu.be/052nUdX8gz8) and they've been growing no end since. Inspiring girls to code is such an important mission, and I really like the way they are able to do this to young girls when it really matters, by making them see the fun in programming (in my opinion this is how you really get girls excited about a path in programming later in life). My 4 year old daughter Nora is starting early and loves it already! Keep up the good work!

@jasondainter Thank you for sharing this - it's always the happiest moments for us seeing how fun and empowering learning to code can be for girls 😍 can't wait to follow along Nora's journey with coding!
Amrith
@jasondainter this made my day, more power to Nora! πŸ™ŒπŸ½βœ¨

@dora_palfi Indeed. I can't wait till she gets older and starts the more advanced stuff. I love how your tutorials gets progressively ore advanced like that. Actually when I think back to where my own joy for computing came from my dad used to let me play with a bunch of old BBC Micros (jeez I sound old!) and I used to make music by programming notes into arrays etc into the terminal. I think if girls are shown programming is fun in a young enough age it's the key to getting way more interest in after years. Great work and keep it up!

This is so cool! I'm not a pre-teen girl but I got so excited that I just bought the imagiCharm πŸ₯³

@mostafa_mohsen_gaafar looking forward to hear your feedback! while you are waiting for it to arrive you can already download the app and check it out :)

imagi is sooo good! It makes learning to code a fun and wholesome ride. One can spend hours on creative cool designs on imagi without getting bored a single time.
Beatrice Ionascu
@honeykpatel we are always amazed when we find really intricate designs and complex projects that our users share in the app and especially when we realize how much time they dedicate to creating them!

From observing hundreds of kids (and from personal experience) learning Python on the imagi app... I can promise that it’s the most engaging way to learn a text-based programming language!
Remus Pop
Such a great way to spark kid's imagination and sharpen their thinking. I wish I had this as a kid instead of playing Sneak on Nokia.
Beatrice Ionascu
@remus_pop1 What if we get this generation of kids to play snake on imagiCharms? And then to code their own games from the imagi app?
Remus Pop
@beatricius that's a great plan. maybe a first step would be to get them to tailor the snake haha before moving onto their own games. Back in my days I wish sometimes I could have changed the size and speed of that damn snake..
Beatrice Ionascu
@remus_pop1 That's exactly what we are thinking. Start with customizing colors, very basic elements of the game and make it really easy so anyone can do it. And then step by step, learn how to make bigger changes up to the point where you can even create your own games!

This is great πŸ‘

@jmserruya thank you for your support!
