Hello Product Hunters, while working on my own projects I kept feeling the need of connecting with buddies who I knew could help with the skills I was lacking to help me with the challenges I was facing. In recent conversations with fellow indie makers I realized many of them had the same issue, and were longing for accountability partners (buddies) with a complementary skillset to their own. So I decided to build a simple system which would do just that. I am also a big fan of building in public (#buildinpublic), so you can read the creation of this app here: https://svenh.com/indiebuddy/ and on my twitter @iamsvenh) Here is how it works: 1. Enter what you are good at, and would be willing to help others with. 2. Enter what you are NOT good at, and looking for help with. 3. Enter your email. We compare the skillsets and once a cross-match was found we will connect you two and you can take it from there, connect and help each other with your projects. Cross-Matches are matches where each buddy has a strength-to-weakness connection and vice versa. Looking forward to all your feedback.

Nice, I am good at programming but awful at copywriting and selling. Will we receive the matched person email and then we go from there or?

@ssijak Yes, correct. Currently the matching algorithm runs once a day. Once you match with someone, we will send the two buddies an email to introduce the two of you. You can then schedule a meeting, or just start the conversation. We have a plan to make this connection easier by building it into the product in the future, as well as making the scheduling for a time to connect easier for you.

This is a cool idea, I am always looking for people to bounce off little issues I am dealing with on my projects. And with this I don't have to keep annoying my friends. Plus it will be fun to help others on their projects with my skills. What are your future plans for this? Any features on the roadmap you could tell us about?

@marco_glockler thank you so much for the kind words. I do have a few features in mind, but really hope for the community to let me know what they would like next. E.g. - Closed Loop System (to match people from a existing community / company - Extend beyond skills (e.g. Personality traits, etc) - Add a profile section to manage your skills - A Buddy Dashboard where you can see who you matched with, and manage the matches. This will then also allow more than one match at a time - Internal communication tool to chat / call with your buddy
