Hi fellow Product Hunters! Super pumped to be launching Lingotrack today! After 12+ months of hard work 💪, it's ready to make your language-learning journey more social and a tad less daunting. How? Some history is in order. During the pandemic, I tackled Chinese and quickly realized something: motivation is key, especially for beginners or those stuck at the infamous 'intermediate plateau' 🏔️. Well, enter Lingotrack! Vibrant charts 📈, easy logging, and a personal library system 📚 make progress nearly tangible. Plus, you're never alone — share goals, write reviews, and find camaraderie in our learner's hub. And the good news doesn't end there! Our crowdsourced, difficulty-arranged database of foreign media and collections mean you can wave goodbye 👋 to feeling intimidated or overwhelmed by native content, whether it's due to choice paralysis or inacessibility. Excited to hear your thoughts and see the community grow~ 🌱

Congrats on the launch! Which languages are supported now? Will the list be widening? Or is it up to the community to add something? 🙂
Simon Ilincev
Hi Oleg, the platform is pretty language-agnostic; you can track progress and find media in almost 200 languages. I've gotten a few requests for new ones (e.g. Ancient Greek and Latin), and adding these only takes a matter of minutes — if you're missing something, just let me know! What's needed from the community is just to build up a database of learners and media. Since you can search for books, updates, movies, etc. by language, it's important that a lot of these get added from crowdsourcing.

Congratulations. Interesting product. I'll have to try it

Hey Simon and team The idea is cool, and I wanted to give it a try, but that's where it stops for me. The main impression is that this product is designed for those who already know how similar tracking systems work. However, for me, it's something new, and unfortunately, I don't understand anything: 1. There's a lack of onboarding - I landed on the page after authorization. What should I do next? The attention focus is scattered. 2. I'm learning Spanish and found only 3 books in the media. I suppose I should add my own, but it's not clear. 3. I couldn't add a book to my library because it turns out that English has already been assigned. Why did you decide this for me? In general, it looks interesting, but I would appreciate more clarity.

@eugene_rebrov Thank you for the detailed and candid feedback! Anyway, to address a few of your points: 1. You’re right in that the onboarding experience is not very good. You’ll notice that the pop up that first shows up has a link to a comprehensive YouTube tutorial, as does the about page. However, I’ll work on making some in-app onboarding too. 2. Right now the tool is in its infancy, so we’re suffering a bit from the cold start problem. There’s a decent array of Chinese and Japanese media, but unfortunately Spanish hasn’t reached that following yet. 3. The purpose of Lingotrack is to track foreign languages (or is English not your native one?). Additionally, if you would like to track multiple such foreign languages, you need to purchase a subscription for $3/month to help cover costs.

@simon_ilincev thanks for answers. I took a paid plan to support you. It'd also join discord/reddit to give regular feedback. the tool is really interesting
Simon Ilincev
@eugene_rebrov Thanks so much for your support!! I'm glad you like the tool, and can confirm that I've added making an onboarding screen to the roadmap. (Might take a couple weeks though, I have final exams coming up.) In terms of giving feedback — there's a contact page where you can send messages via a 'box'. I've also linked a Google Form on the page. There's no dedicated Discord / Reddit set up yet (maybe when we get more users!), but for now you're free to use those or email me at contact@lingotrack.com.

Good looking product, very reasonable price and I really like the idea of having content suggested that is the right level for your learning. As an intermediate french learner I'm constantly looking for decent netflix/prime shows in french (or with french audio/subtitle options) to watch, and it's always a struggle. Good luck with the launch!
Simon Ilincev
@james_kuht Thank you for the encouragement! I definitely feel you on finding decent shows. Hopefully we'll have a good French offering on Lingotrack for you soon!
