I remember having friends playing this game with the undestructive good old Nokia 3310.
I think one of the most interesting points of this game tbh is actually the potential of Ably to take care of these real-time functionalities very easily for developers - we can see the phone's orientation in real-time. Sweet.
I think it's laughably absurd that we've reached a point in time where we have totally forgotten what an amazing piece of technology a smartphone is...
I hate to sound like an old man (or Louis C.K https://youtu.be/q8LaT5Iiwo4?t=24 ), but here is a a device packed with software that took thousands of people their entire careers to discover/developer, encased in hardware that meticulously crafted ... and users of this app willingly throw their phone into the air in the hopes of getting ... a high score.
btw this is not a critique on the developers or this app, their app just made me reflect on society at large.
Funny idea, but I'm surprised this made it past review. There were several of these apps in the early days of iOS development, and Apple eventually banned them. There's even a specific rule against it in the app store review guidelines: "Apps should not urge customers to use their devices in a way that contradicts safety documentation for Apple hardware, risking damage to the device or physical harm to people."
