Method (YC S19) allows you to easily pay any of your users' debts – including credits card, student loans, car loans, and mortgages – all through a single API.
Thanks @mwseibel for hunting! 🎉
Hi Product Hunt, I'm Jose one of the founders of Method Financial 👋
😵 The Problem —
My co-founder @mdelcarmen and I created GradJoy, a student loan management app. One of our biggest challenges was integrating a way to pay our user’s student loans. Some solutions included manually sending checks, or screen-scraping user’s financial accounts. 👎 After our inability to find a fast, robust and startup-friendly solution, we decided to build it internally. 🧑💻
🚀 The Solution —
A single API to add bank transfers and debt repayment to your app quickly. We do the hard work so you can go live in an evening of coding!
How Method works in your app:
➡️ You onboard your users onto Method.
➡️ Link your users’ ACH / Liability (“student loans, credit cards, etc”) - use our Method.js link to securely collect PANs & sensitive account numbers.
➡️ Done! You can now start moving money on behalf of your users and their accounts.
We built Method to be the API we would have wanted when building GradJoy. We'd love to hear all your feedback, comments and ideas. We'll be around throughout the day to answer your questions!
@jsoncorwin Thanks Jason! Our focus is to make Method as developer friendly as possible. 🚀
Report
Thank you for sharing this financial method. Recently I understood that financial education is essential. I had normal life and spent money on things I didn't need because I was sure that I would make more money. Recently I lost my job, and I am blaming myself that I wasn't saving any money. Now I am in debt and don't know what to do with my life. First of all, I understand that I need to find how to pay off debts quickly because I know that if I don't pay them on time, I will have very big problems.
An API that further empowers predatory lending practices
Report
@ravi_bajnath quite the opposite - this efficiency enables a new generation of lenders to compete with traditional players and fight predatory practices
Report
@alexandr_matsenov So what you're saying is that this app makes it more efficient for smaller oppressors to compete with larger oppressors in order to profit from usury from the oppressed? Lending private capital implies that it was accumulated by dispossession (from labor) and enforced by violence (State-backed repossession models). You won't find the benefactors of this API to ever consider including/using a debt jubilee feature, because it's inherently predatory and efficient at doing so.
