NutriSense V2.0

I would like to introduce you to one of our investments, NutriSense, a data-first nutrition company, that combines glucose monitoring with a tracking app and a real-life coach. You take pictures of what you eat and they give you feedback based on your glucose response. They also take into account your exercise, meals, and sleep. I’ve lost a couple of pounds wearing the device while learning that cereal spikes my blood sugar and full-fat ice cream doesn’t. I’ve learned that some prosciutto and a short walk both lower my blood sugar, and all of this is adding up to me losing around a pound of weight a week.

My co-founders Dan (@dan_zavorotny), Kara (@kara_coll) and I built NutriSense to address the pervasive problem of chronic metabolic disease. We are taking a unique approach to solving this problem by focusing on real-time data, expert guidance, and personalized nutrition, rather than one-size-fits-all dieting. 🥗 The problem with traditional dieting Many of us have tried dieting in one form or another. Unfortunately, traditional diets suffer from a few common pitfalls: - A specific diet may not work well for a significant portion of the population due to differences in genetics and microbiome composition. - Most traditional diets are too extreme, require significant lifestyle changes, and have very low adherence over extended periods of time. - There is no good feedback mechanism to help us understand if the changes we are making to our diet are leading to any long-term improvement (especially if we are not dieting for weight loss). - There is little to no accountability, and nobody there to help when we have questions or get stuck. 🧪 The NutriSense solution We built a service that gives you all the tools you need in one place. - We work with anyone who wants to improve their health, regardless of their dietary preferences. We believe that there is more than one way to eat healthy. - We do not condone extreme dietary changes. We believe in the 80/20 principle. A 20% change can get you 80% of the results. We get to healthier outcomes through small, iterative changes, that anyone can stick to. - We provide our users with real-time feedback through continuous glucose monitoring (CGM), AI-powered meal tracking, and common wearable devices. - Everyone is assigned a dietitian (RD) who helps personalize the experience based on each person's individual health goals. The dietitian also helps with accountability and education. They are available via in-app chat. ✏️ How does it work? 1. Sign up for a plan on our website and complete a quick health questionnaire. 2. Receive all the necessary hardware in the mail (2 CGM devices per month). 3. Use the NutriSense app for meal, activity, and other daily tracking, so we can correlate your glucose levels with your routine. 4. Run food experiments and chat with your dietitian daily to understand what is and isn’t working for you. 5. Build a plan with your dietitian to address your specific concerns (pre diabetes, high cholesterol, weight loss, etc) 🔬What else we’re working on… Our dietitians are experts when it comes to metabolic disease management and prevention. By combing their expertise with key data trends, we can change the face of chronic metabolic disease forever. While glucose data is incredibly valuable in this respect, it’s not the only data that matters! This is why we’re working on adding: - At home lab tests so we can get the full metabolic picture (lipids, vitamins, etc). - Support for other popular wearables and tracking devices (we already sync with HealthKit, GoogleFit, KetoMojo, Biosense) so we can understand your daily routine. - An in-app community so you can keep each other accountable and compare notes. - Educational tracks designed for each respective health condition (diabetes, heart disease, etc).
