OnboardingShuffle is the best inspiration for new mobile onboarding. Send to your team and get working on your onboarding! (We know you haven't updated it in 3+yrs ๐)
Hi all!
๐ฒ I've been fascinated with the UX of mobile apps for the past 2yrs. It's crazy the amount of time we spend on our preferred apps - and yet, how high the drop off rate is (77% within 3 days). My first thought: thatโs a product onboarding product.
๐คฆ๐พโโ๏ธ As a product manager who has built platforms and mobile apps, I first started by looking for inspiration to other products. Hence my 2020 Covid experiment: โProduct Sinsโ UX Teardowns like Lemonade Insurance.
๐ฒ For mobile onboarding, I often draw inspiration from other apps - but how difficult is it to remember past onboardings? So you re-download 1, 3, 5, 10 apps...but thatโs pretty cumbersome. Ultimately, thereโs just not enough to recreate onboarding.
๐ Introducing... Onboarding Shuffle.
Just press space to start!
Comb through the onboardings I've selected for their aesthetics and applied product principles.
๐๐ฝ Special thanks to @andrew_tsao1 for mentoring, @5harath for his Ondeck โHow to Launchโ workshop, and @whit_anderson and @modernafflatus of Bad Unicorn for landing page inspiration, @mobbin for screenshots, @_fbrz of Coolors for inspiration.
๐ฅณ Cheers to the product managers who build mobile onboarding over months, years, decades - youโre the troopers. (And if this is you, would love to hear from you! (elizabeth@productmindset.xyz))

Thanks for building this! Making these comparisons is super informative. Are there any onboarding flows that you know have proven to have higher completion rates? I'd also love to know the wisdom behind some of these
Hi @sarah_c3! Such a great q - flows that do better are the ones that ask to customize your experience. Less "first name" + "email", but more "what type of persona type are you? We will customize for you based off of your answers."
I personally really like finance app, Cleo's onboarding - it's bold and has a chatbot so you know everything is customized for you. Another is Pinterest - by asking you interests and hobbies up front, I know I've come back to the website often.
Super interesting to see some of these onboarding screens back to back. I feel like I generally tune these out when signing up for an app, but super curious to see how some of the main apps bring people in, especially the food delivery apps. Lots of inspiration!
I've been helping Liz build Onboarding Shuffle and am so proud of the result. This looks awesome! Congrats to the team and the launch!
This is only the first of many products Liz is planning to launch so follow her to be in the loop of more! Excited for the next Onboarding Drop ๐ฆ
This is great! Really interesting to see the similarities and differences between different onboarding experiences illustrated so clearly. Really helps conceptualize the process flow when designing ours.
The inspiration came from seeing how difficult it is to change the mobile onboarding - as a product manager, you need to do hundreds of small tweaks and tests and it took me 2+ weeks to just get feedback for one AB test. Working backwards, I saw this massive gap of inspiration just *to* create onboarding. So that's what we built!
