Matt Moderwell
Hey everyone! Thanks for checking out Ouro ❤️ It's been a passion project of mine for the past year and I'm excited to keep making it better for ya'll every day. My mission with the platform is to help others pursue what they're passionate about. Given the right forms of expression for the technical persona (files, datasets, APIs), I think we'll all benefit from talented people doing what they love while building a business around it. I look forward to working with ya'll and I'm excited to see what you share!

@nmoderwell congrats on Ouro! It’s great to see a platform that supports developers and data scientists.

@owenfar thanks for checking it out :) I have Framer Motion to thank for that one.

Congratulations, @mmoderwell on the launch of Ouro! 🎉 It's inspiring to see a platform specifically tailored for technical creators like developers and data scientists. The ability to share files, datasets, and code through APIs opens up exciting possibilities for collaboration and monetization. Your vision of empowering creators to build businesses around their passions is both timely and much needed in the tech community. Looking forward to seeing how Ouro evolves and the amazing content that will come from this platform. Wishing you continued success on this journey!

The logo immediately reminded me of Rick Rubin's book — so I just couldn’t help but upvote, haha Good luck!
Matt Moderwell
@kszhebrovskaya he's a great inspiration, and love that book! When I saw the book come out with the same logo, I was so happy. I hope to be tapping into the same creative force he talks about, and enabling others to do the same!

@mmoderwell heavy plus!!

@nmoderwell Really love the vision behind Ouro. The idea of giving technical people the tools they need to create and share their passion projects is awesome.Kudos to you and the team for bringing this to life.
Matt Moderwell
@noahchristopherbennett kind words, thank you Noah.

Hey Matt, Ouro sounds like exactly what I've been looking for! Love the idea of helping people express their passions through APIs and datasets. Quick question though--do users need any specific technical skills to get started? Or is it friendly for someone who isn't super technical? Anyway, excited to see where this goes!
Matt Moderwell
@oliverjameshawthorne there's something for all levels of technical skill! You can focus on sharing your ideas through writing posts, or uploading media you've created with a simple file upload. None of these require any technical expertise! We're working on making the technical aspect more approachable too.

Ouro is an incredible platform that empowers technical creators to monetize their passion through files, datasets, and APIs! I'm curious—will future updates include features for collaborative projects or marketplaces where creators can team up and co-monetize their work?
Matt Moderwell
@annaho2000 oh wow, that's a really cool idea! I think it would fit great! A team gets together and builds something people love, everyone that contributed should share in the profits! Added it to the roadmap, thanks!

Hey Matt, I'm curious about how you handle version control for shared code and datasets. Is there a built-in system, or do creators need to manage that externally? What measures are in place to ensure uptime and reliability, especially for paid functionalities? Congrats on the launch!
Matt Moderwell
@kyrylosilin Hey Kyrylo, these are great things to be thinking about. It's not something we've handled on the platform yet, but I can see it's going to be important. We should have either a deeper integration with Github and alternates, or some kind of internal management. Does one sound better to you? Right now, we've just been going with the copy-and-iterate idea common with Claude and ChatGPT, where you make a new copy with the changes. We can do better though. To your second question, just the basic measures expected in modern development. Uptime and reliability is important to us because we want creators to be able to use shared APIs as components in their own products. If one service goes down, many more could go down and that wouldn't be good. Thanks for the questions!
Allen
Congratulations on launching this innovative platform! I'm really excited to see how it caters specifically to developers and data scientists. The ability to share files, datasets, and code functionality via web APIs is particularly intriguing and could significantly streamline collaboration within our technical communities. I’m curious about the security measures in place for sharing sensitive datasets. Also, are there plans to integrate more community features, like forums or feedback systems, to further enhance creator engagement? Overall, this sounds like a fantastic step forward in the social monetization space. Can't wait to see how it evolves!
Matt Moderwell
@allen_xu1130 Thanks Allen! I hope you find it useful. Are you asking about datasets that might have PII in them, or more like a private dataset you only want to share with a select group? We've got organizations, teams, posts, and DMs to support collaboration! You can react on posts and comments too. You can think of a team sort of like a subreddit. We'll work to make this better, but this should be enough to get people started on collaboration!
