Thanks @chrija for hunting us! 👋 I'm Richard, co-founder here at Juro - the contract automation platform. A while back, as a side project we decided to redesign our privacy notice to turn it into a document people could actually read. A document that was: 🏎️ concise 🔎 transparent 🤔 intelligible 👉 easily-accessible This spiralled and led to a 13,000% increase in page views. Which is a lot for a document that no one ever really reads... Now you can grab these design patterns for your website free! We've opened out a GitHub repo where you can access the layout without reinventing the wheel. The repo includes: 💤 a pop-up privacy modal - a same-page summary of the privacy notice 👀 the full privacy notice - a layered document with clickable elements We've tried to make it as dev friendly as possible : ) It's completely free - to use it on your website, you'll just need to customise the text to the specific needs of your business. Thanks Jimi! In the development stage, we ran a programme of user feedback sessions to select the version that users found the easiest to read. 2 years post-launch, we're still getting 1k views per month which is a pretty good validation of the design :)

Big fan of Stef as most people know. So great that this work is being shared. Some thoughts/questions... 1. Do you see a risk that folks simply copy this, without doing the critical work to build privacy, data protection, data ethics and legal design capacity? 2. Can you share the work that led to this (data mapping, GDPR rules mapping etc.)? 3. What behaviours were exhibited before the project (by folks interacting with this)? What behaviours were you designing to change? What were the actual (measurable) results (comprehension, time to comprehension, attitudinal assertions of trust etc.)? 4. Did all of this encourage you to step back and consider more privacy preserving approach to running your organisation and processing data (for instance, a different marketing and analytics stack)? Plenty more, but will leave it at that for now.

@nathankinch Thank you Nathan! We're huge fans of Stefania and her work too :) These are all great questions! I hope these answers help: 1. As this is open source, there's a limit to what we can do to ensure people create a robust privacy structure that's right for them. We've made it clear that users need to tailor implementation to their own use case and make sure their particular commercial and legal situation is covered. Unfortunately not everyone has the resources to build proper legal design capacity, so if we're able to help by at least providing some building blocks, then we're happy to do that! 2. We actually wrote a blog which covers how we framed the problem, and how we went about solving it. Check it out here: https://blog.juro.com/how-to-wri... 3. Hopefully the blog I shared answers this too, but we are intending to provide more background on the how and why in forthcoming publications - stay tuned. 4. Had we been a larger organisation it definitely would have - fortunately we were quite early on in building the company when we did this, and could then build out our stack with privacy at the heart of what we do. That work is never finished and we regularly review and update based on feedback and best practice. Thanks again for your comment - I hope you find some value in the template!

@rmabey appreciate the response. The blog definitely helps with aspects of the design process, but misses anything related to privacy/data protection impact assessments, mapping data flows/personal data flows etc. Have you published this more detailed work anywhere? Also, are you behaviourally monitoring usage? If so, what does the tracking/cookie consent process look like in order to justify this?

"I have read and agree to the Privacy Policy". Said no one ever (without lying). ;-) @rmabey and team have changed this a couple of years ago by writing a privacy notice that people could actually read. Now they're making it easy for everyone to do the same!
