I hated the fact that it takes countless clicks and a never-ending stream of headaches to launch a simple webpage. Consider this: you’re throwing a birthday party for your friend and want to set up a no-bells-and-whistles invite page. You’ve two options: either waste 2 hours of your life figuring out which invite creation product to use or spend 2 days setting up a whole site using a website builder. After doing all the above, are you now prepared to spend hours crafting the right copy? Of course not! You’ve better things to do, like…planning the actual party. All of this was knocking around in my head when I was building a new full-page popup feature for sitenote. sitenote is a SaaS tool that helps you inform and delight site visitors and increase conversion rate. Soon after launching the feature, I had a eureka moment: a full-page modal is, in essence, a single-page site. To make a website creation tool, you only need a front end that sits on top of sitenote’s API and a bot that makes launching sites child’s play. I also added a sprinkle of AI to make the experience more majestic. Users can now outsource the hard work of writing their smol site’s first content draft by having the AI generate seed content. Here’s the end-to-end experience: 1. Send a Facebook message to the smol site page describing what you’re looking for. Make the prompt as general or as specific as you want. 2. Once the prompt is verified, you’ll receive a confirmation message from the bot. 3. Within a few seconds, the bot will reply with a preview and edit links. 4. Use the edit link to update your newly minted site, and don’t forget to claim a unique pathname. Once you tap the Launch button, you’ll see your site’s address and a QR code ready to be shared with the world! 5.
