Hey Product Hunt 👋
@mwseibel - thanks for hunting us!
I’m Matan, Co-founder & CEO at Spinach.io. I’m excited to announce the launch of Spinach.io for Google Meet. Teams can now run faster and more structured daily standups on Google Meet. We were one of the early Zoom Apps developers and saw how powerful an app experience integrated into the video conferencing experience can be. After receiving requests from many teams we’re bringing the same powerful experience to Google Meet.
What’s Spinach.io?
A great standup can save teams hours of confusion and misalignment. The problem is that most standups aren’t that great. People aren’t always prepared so they think out loud. It’s not engaging so people tune out. It’s easy to lose focus and stray off topic. If any of this sounds familiar - please give Spinach.io a try and tell us what you think!
How it works:
🥬 Before standup - each team member prepares their check-in. You can choose from default Yesterday, Today, Blockers categories or create your own. Organizing your thoughts and planning your day helps you share meaningful context instead of trying to recall what you did yesterday.
🥬 During standup - running a great standup takes work, and we do it for you. Spinach rotates through each persons’ check-in so there’s no deciding “who goes next”. If you have additional topics to discuss with the team add them to Team Topics and they’ll get added to the agenda.
🥬 After standup - instant notes automatically posted to Slack and saved in app for future reference. Easily share status with stakeholders or catch up if you missed standup.
🥬 Async friendly - we support async standups for days where you just want to share status updates but don’t have any blockers or other important topics to discuss.
How to get started:
1. Add our Chrome Extension
2. Sign up and set up your team
3. On your next standup join Google Meet and click the “S” icon in lower right to open Spinach
Spinach.io is free forever for one team up to 19 users. Give Spinach.io a try and tell us what you think!
This looks super cool and helps take the guesswork out of standups! Really like how one can deflect discussions to "Team Topics" - helps to keep the standup concise instead of dragging on needlessly. 👌 Grats on the launch team!
@saasdesigner Yes! I have a tendency to talk too much. I love parking questions in Team Topics so I'm not taking away time from other people on my team. It's helping me build better habits.
@emily_fenech Indeed!
Random, semi-relevant idea - I wonder if it might be cool to enable (on/off) a countdown timer per person's standup. It'd be an option for those who want meetings to stay within a constrained time limit. I've been in standups that have gone on way past their scheduled duration and could've used something like this, haha.
@saasdesigner We have a count "up" timer in Spinach to create awareness of how long you've been talking. We started with count "down" and a lot of users said it was too stressful, ha. But I'm noting this feedback!
@saasdesigner@emily_fenech Love the feedback. We have debated this topic a bunch and could see is making it optional in the future. What we found is that the standup time is cut drastically just by having people prepare for 2 minutes before speaking. That has solved a lot of going long issues we have heard from our users from before using our app.

Awesome, congrats. I watched the video and probably missed this but just wondering, can you push the notes out to a google doc in addition to Slack?
@rob_mark Hey Rob! There's a Copy button on the Summary. So you can drop instant notes in Google Docs, Notion, ClickUp or whatever you use. We have an integration with Slack that posts a summary of every standup to a channel of your choice.
@talmixed I found a critical vulnerability in Spinach.io where I'm able to login into anyone's spinach account. I mailed you about this, Please check at your email. This is a very serious issue. I hope you act on it likewise.
Thanks,
Stephen

I totally agree that most video-conference aren't totally suited to actual team work while on the call. This looks promising! Definitely want to try it. Congrats on your launch!
@kenza_bzb Spinach is a companion to your existing video tools for exactly that reason. We want to bring inputs from Jira, Slack and your calendar into your video screen to reduce context-switching and help the team align in one visual space.
Congrats everyone! This looks so helpful not only to make quicker meetings but I think it will also boost employee engagement especially in larger teams as it is not so easy to follow and contribute to the agenda. Nice work!!
@bengido Yes. That is the goal. Spinach creates space for everyone on the team and makes it way easier to follow along and listen to others on the team.
Congrats on the launch team!
This has been super handy during our live stand-ups at Zuddl. Previously somebody had to share their screen and juggle between tabs.
