Fran López
👋 Hey there Hunters! Fran López, CEO at Stooa 🚀 As a part of the team, I'm super excited to share Stooa with you and get your feedback! It all started during the pandemic. We needed meeting venues for co-creation and sharing knowledge or complex information. We love to debate and share opinions in unconference formats such as fishbowls. A fishbowl is a great group dynamic that ensures an orderly, free-flowing and participatory discussion. We love it as it’s an outstanding way of giving all employees or members of an association, community or team the chance to have their say and to get them more involved in the conversation. More about fishbowls and why Stooa was born: Fran's article How to manage a fishbowl online We first tried it with other video conferencing tools, proposing some simple rules to manage it. Despite the team having technological comfort, the thing didn't quite work. We looked for specific tools but found nothing so we decided to develop it ourselves. ✅ Stooa allows you to set up online fishbowl events with automatic facilitation for groups of more than 5 people and to ensure the participation of all attendees in a fluid and orderly way. 🎉 Now we’ve made it, we are pleased to share it with whoever might need it. 👉 Please enjoy it by visiting https://www.stooa.com/ and we’d be unbelievably thankful if you try Stooa and let us know what was your experience, what we need to improve and which other features you’d need. 😊

Hey @mrfranlopez ! Congrats on your launch! Are there any direction Stooa's roadmap will be focusing on?
Fran López
Hi @tszhoi_19 ! The main goal we have in mind is to improve the host onboarding, but we also have other milestones: – Management of Fishbowls – Management of Host/Users – Architecture enhacements – More unconference tools : open space, dot voting, world cafe – Empowering the onboarding experience You can check the full roadmap on our github → https://github.com/Stooa/Stooa/p...
Tsz Hoi Lee
@mrfranlopez Love that! Looking forward to the build and world cafe sounds interesting!

@mrfranlopez @merno0sh Thank you for you feedback, Mehrnoosh. We are glad you like it. 😊 Is there any suggestion about the roadmap and new features you would like to make?
Noosh Baratpour
@mrfranlopez @annachiara_sechi Absolutely! Yes, login with LinkedIn also would make it much easier to start :)
Annachiara Sechi
@mrfranlopez @merno0sh Good point, thanks! It is actually on the Stooa backlog https://github.com/Stooa/Stooa/p... 😁 We hope to release it soon. 🤞

@mrfranlopez @annachiara_sechi Yay! I saw Google and others but didn't see LinkedIn. Great then!
Vanesa Tejada
I have used the product and I liked how the dynamic flowed with so many participants. Would it be possible to record the sessions? Thanks!
Jordi Hernández
@vanesa_tejada Hi Vanesa. Thanks for your comment. It's great to know you enjoy using it! About the recording, I must say it is something that we are discussing in the team but that raises some doubts because of the risk of affecting the climate of trust that is generated in a face-to-face fishbowl, precisely because it is not recorded. We are afraid of putting at risk the transparency and privacy of the conversations that are generated by the fact that it is being recorded. It is not entirely clear to us, although it is true that it could be done as long as all users agree that it is being recorded. What do you think about it?
Raquel Lainde
@vanesa_tejada @jordihg Can I participate? Recently I took part in a debate in other plataform that was recorded and uploaded without our permission and it was very disappointing, so I understand the team concern... But said that: if there is a clear signal (like in jitsi and others) at the beginning of the recording, this problem is solved... and taking care of the privacy don't rely on the organizer goodwill only, so in the end you take better care of the participants trust ;) One of the online event's advantage is that can be recorded and can reach more people with little effort, don't underestimate that competitive advantage :)
Jose Eduardo Saura
@vanesa_tejada @jordihg @raquel_lainde Raquel you are so right, thanks for that feedback!
Alex Miller
hi @mrfranlopez! Looks interesting. What is the "fishbowl method", for what type of events is it useful and why is it effective?
Fran López
Hi Alex. Great question, thanks! A fishbowl is an ideal dialogue method that facilitates conversations, debates and any type of activity in which participation is essential for its development. 👉 It's an open discussion approach, a participatory round table, which allows for seamless, self-managed and methodical dialogue on a specific topic within large groups. 👉 How it works: Four to six chairs are arranged in an inner circle (what would be the fishbowl) while the rest of the group sit on chairs around them as listeners. The organisers and the facilitator take all but one of the chairs in the circle and ask the first question. The fishbowl has only two requirements: – There must always be a free chair. – The conversation can only take place inside the fishbowl. The free chair can be taken by anyone in the audience who has something to input into the discussion: questions, insights, data, etc. When this happens, someone from the circle has to leave the fishbowl so that there is always a free chair. This gives everyone a chance to take part and enriches the conversation with relevant content. (One more thing: it’s not just about asking a question, sitting down and letting the conversation flow. Everyone should be encouraged to chip in.)

@mrfranlopez @fotoflo Hi Alex, you can try it out yourself :) All feedback is welcome!!
Raquel Lainde
I tested this tool while in beta and it was AMAZING! Try it in your #OnlineEvents, I'm sure you'll love it too!
Jordi Hernández
Wow! Thanks for sharing your experience, @raquel_lainde !! In your experience, what would you recommend the fishbowl technique for?
Annachiara Sechi
@raquel_lainde be sure we will follow your advice on Online Events! Thank you!
Raquel Lainde
@jordihg Unfortunately I just take part in fishbowl technique in tech unconferences, but I see the potential in a wide range of events in different proffesional fields. This tool can help them to increase the dynamism and participation in events that are usually more "one direction" type. Usually the organizers don't have practice with group dynamics (less in online format!). They know those dynamics would benefit their event enriching the conversation and engaging the audience, but they also have fear about loosing control. This tool can give them an easy framework (a smooth learning curve and great ux) in order to increase the audience engagement and enlarge the group intelligence by discussing in an organized way their topics. As a former events organizer I always had dreamed of exporting the "agile dynamics" (limited to tech field, a little bit education sector too...) to other fields, and I think this tool could be the way to do it. So... please share it with the outside world! ;)
Annachiara Sechi
@jordihg @raquel_lainde That's the idea Raquel! Fishbowl is an ideal dialogue method for tech field and educational environments, as you say, but also for communities, academic circles, public institutions and companies looking to improve their employee experience. One of the most powerful things of fishbowls is that all participants feel engaged, maintain attention and participate. The hierarchy is removed and the level of engagement of the participants increases. And that's so powerful for the organization's culture!

This looks really interesting will be using it to understand about it, will keep posting about it
