Hey Product Hunt community! 👋 I'm excited to introduce you to Time Tag. a time tracking tool born from my own struggles as a solo developer. Here's what makes it special: 🕒 Key Features: Tag and note each time block Filter and view total time per tag Export data to CSV No sign-up required (uses localStorage) Optional account for cross-device sync Edit and delete time blocks 🎯 Who it's for: Freelancers tracking billable hours Students managing study time Anyone aiming to boost productivity 🚀 My Story: As a solo maker, I found existing time trackers either too complex or lacking key features. So, I built Time Tag to solve my own pain points. It's designed to be simple yet powerful, helping you understand where your time goes without the hassle. 💡 Goals: I'm looking for your feedback! How can I make this tool even more useful for you? Any features you'd love to see? How do you currently track your time? Time Tag is completely free! No hidden fees or premium tiers. Feel free to ask any questions—I'm here to chat! 😊

Hey Tirth, I noticed you mentioned the option to sync across devices. How seamless is that process? Congrats on the launch!
Tirth
@kyrylosilin When you sign in from new device, latest data will be synced. But any action on one device will need a refresh on other devices to reflect. How much would you like if data synced across all signed in device without having to refresh? It is great feature to have. I'd love to add that functionality if people think it its useful. I'm glad you asked this question, please let me know about anything you'd want to know.

@tirthd Yes, I want this feature.

So I stumbled across this app through an ad, and have been playing around with it, I'm curious if it plans to address how to manage multiple projects simultaneously? it's decent but seems too basic for anyone juggling complex schedules, wondering if a collaboration feature might be in the works to make it more usable
Tirth
@sportexec2023 Yes, I have though about having multiple timers and ability to name, save and export each. Professionals can use it to manage multiple projects. And general users (like me) can have a list of tracker for each of their day. Thanks for your suggestion, I'll definetely be working on getting this part done.

Does it track time spent of specific apps or pages?
Tirth
@jsteneros No, it does not. Such a feature would take care of manually inputting tags and notes in your time blocks. But such feature would also raise a lot of privacy concerns. Thus Time Tag does not automatically track time spent on specific apps. You can only manually tag and a note to a time block. On the bright side, when you see the time you have spent on specific thing and reflect on it, write a summary in your own words - it makes you more mindful of your time. Atleast in my experience. Thanks for your question Johan.

I really like how this was created by a solo developer, really useful for keeping track of my time especially with no sign-up needed, ever considered adding a feature to track apps or specific web pages? reminds me of Toggl and Timely but feels more personal and straightforward, keep up the great work
Tirth
@foractivedev No, I haven't really considered adding apps/site tracking to Time Tag. I think there are lot good products for that problem. What makes Time Tag different - like you mentioned is its personal and straightforward. This was the entire point of making Time Tag. I wanted something to just track time I spent doing certain activity, add a note, tag it and then export it all to csv at the end of the day. I am planning to release for features in future while keeping this simplicity at center. Thanks for your kind comment, Hubert.

I'm not really seeing the need for another time tracking app I mean there are so many already and while it’s cool that no sign-up is required and data stays local it feels like a basic feature now rather than a standout one maybe adding some kind of more unique value like better customization or integrating with popular tools would help what do you think about adding voice command or maybe even a slight gamification to make it more engaging
Tirth
@authorpresenta I think I agree with you. Simplicity of use is moat of Time Tag. But it is lacking any additional features around it to make it stand out. This has been general feedback from most of the comments. People want something more than just a basic time tracker. Some of the suggestions have been - running multiple trackers simultaneously, naming and saving trackers, customization, and as you said integrations, voice command, gamification. I'm not sure through which one I will expand scope of Time Tag, but I will be definetely adding more functionality to it. I'm glad you talked about standing out among countless other time trackers. This has been my primary concern since start. what tool do you think needs to be integrated with Time Tag? In terms of customization, what kind of customization would you want? Thanks for your insightful suggestion. It means a lot.
