Union54 has developed an API that allows any African software company to issue and manage debit cards without needing a bank partner or third party processor. You can call us Marqeta for Africa. We spent 4 years trying to work with banks to issue debit cards to our customers and in the process, rebuilt the tech stack to simplify and accelerate how quickly companies can get access to programmable debit cards. Our API does BIN Sponsorship, transaction processing, monitoring and settlement. Meaning this is the only API you need to design your own virtual card, physical card or even a multi-currency debit card you can put in your website, app or customers hands. Whats more, we can issue cards and work with companies in any African country.
