hey product hunt! I'm kevin, one of the founders at unspun.
We just launched a really cool iphone app to scan yourself and shop for bespoke denim- any chance we could convince you to try it out and give us some testflight feedback? :)
Why we think we could be your new favorite denim brand:
⚡️ we're equal parts fashion & tech
Not just a nerdy button-up company or bland "brand" for accountants. :) We convinced Levi's Head of Design to jump ship after we blew his mind, and we're already launching brand collabs with some of the world's biggest denim labels.
🏅 our jeans are really, really (really) good
I guess it'd be embarrassing if they weren't, but don't take our word for it. No two customers ever get the same pants; these are built to your actual waist, hips, thighs, calf, ankles… all unique to you. If you've been wearing pajama pants for the last year and think hard pants are dead, we're your plug. And if you still end up not liking them, we'll always take them back! As of writing this, our Mode dashboard for our "nailed it first try" rate for Q2 is 93%. 🤓
🏭 we're really f*cking worried about climate change, and bet you are too
Our brand (maybe you'll recognize our color scheme) is the rallying flag we wave on our mission towards creating a 1% reduction in global CO2 emissions, and we get there by helping the fashion industry only make what they really need. Typically, about 20% of all apparel production each year gets shredded or burned without ever being sold (literally gigaton-scale carbon emissions, just in making sh*t we didn't need). ICYMI, Chris Sacca had some great tweets on this shared attitude over the weekend. 🔥
🗺 we've got a pretty cool master plan for how we make an impact
We use our small brand as the concept car to win awards and ruffle feathers, and that sends the big brands (with their executive pay tied to sustainability targets) knocking on our door. We then power the same zero-inventory process for them (yes we're a fashion company with a SaaS product lol), which adds some commas to the tons of waste they can divert, their ultimate profits, and, yes— also our revenue. Our on-demand manufacturing (and soon, localized & automated manufacturing… but more on that in a future product hunt launch 🤫) ties profitability to sustainability, which we think is the best shot we have at driving meaningful progress fast enough.
If you're willing to help us break things and find bugs, we'll send a 20% off code to anyone here that wants to try out our app and will share some feedback with us after they get their jeans (in your hands in ~a month). Our jeans are normally $200, but we guarantee them for life & will always repair them (or get you a discount if you someday wear them into the ground and it's time for new ones).
Thanks so much for trying us out! You can always connect with us on our website, or iMessage us too if that's more your jam. 😎
@falak_sher Thanks for your feedback! We love talking about the custom design and custom fit process, so it's super excited to hear when we get it right. Let us know when you want to try it out! 👏🏽
@mehakdeep_kaur Thanks so much! We've been working so hard on this tech. Exciting to get your feedback - if you have any more feedback or want to try it out, let us know! 🙌🏽

My loose fit jeans arrived yesterday. Most perfect fitting jeans I’ve ever bought. Looks and feels great, worth every penny AND better for our planet - what more could one ask for?! Highly recommend.
This looks great, what's the international customer situation? I'm UK based and buying jeans is a nightmare as I'm a cyclist and lifter so quads never fit
@beth_esponnette awesome, when I see dollars I assume no international. I'll take a look this evening. The one type of Levi's that work for me have been discontinued so we've just been patching them for 6 months 🤦♂️
@simon_barker1 That's great feedback - I'll see if the team can adjust the $ sign for this. Great to hear you've been doing what you can to keep your jeans alive.. but I get you - sometimes you need to move on! Let us know what questions you have with your new pair - we're excited to make them 🙌🏽

I absolutely LOVE unspun jeans. I bought my first pair some two years ago, and since then, I’m not buying jeans other than theirs! My legs are a bit disproportionate in size with more fat on my thighs. I just can’t believe how comfy their jeans could be before I tried them on. The fact that they’re tailor made to your size is just unbeatable. Goodness! I’m never gonna buy jeans elsewhere again.
Most importantly, I feel good when wearing their jeans cos I know I’ve contributed my part in protecting the environment.

@tingtingmak :) Thanks so much for stopping by, Kai! You're the best! 🙌
I’ve been the biggest fan of unspun’s product since the beginning. As a eco-warrior and fashion lover, I’ve always struggled to find a win-win situation for the planet and myself. unspun’s jeans and technology are truly revolutionary for not only environmentalists but also everyday consumers who wish to find the most fitting and comfortable jeans in the world!👖🌏❤️

Congrats on the launch and thank you for this great project. I'm just wondering if the normal price wouldn't be a deal breaker for most people? Not just anyone could afford these jeans and those who wouldn't could just keep buying 4 or 5 pairs for the same price. I understand the positive impact behind unspun and I'm with you guys, but I just don't know if you can have that much of an impact when your product is just for a niche. So how do you see things?
@rubenwolff amazing question! 🙌🏽 It's not an easy answer, right? As you've already identified, it takes a little bit of a mindset change to purchase jeans at this price - you need to think longer term than the next handful of pairs in your closet that will only last a season, whether for style or quality. Our customers know that, like most great things that they buy, this is an investment. They're not buying jeans for a season. They're purchasing a pair they know will last them both physically and style-wise for many years to come. We encourage customers to come back for repairs and adjustments over the long lifetime of the jeans. What's crazy is actually how little we spend on our clothing these days: generally workers aren't paid enough and too many corners are cut on the products. We used to, in the early 1900s, spend 15% of our income on clothing but now we spend less than 3% and we buy too much stuff that we don't wear. We expect it to only last a certain amount of time because of how the industry has trained us. Instead, if we get used to investing in fewer, quality products - and especially ones that come with the guarantees unspun jeans do - we'll be much better off. Sorry for the rant! We just work way too hard on each individual pair of jeans to waive off the price. It really is important.
Maybe you'll let us make you jeans so you can put us to the test?? Free returns and remakes.
Thanks for asking, Ruben!

Love the concept! Are you doing this globally as well? I'm based in Nepal, and I'm totally open to doing all the marketing here for a pair of jeans a month/season ;)
