What do you think? …

Phill Ryu

Hey all, looking forward to what you think of our new indie iPhone app.

If you're a remote working couch potato like me you've probably thought about making daily walks a healthy new habit in your life. I hope this makes that goal a bit addictively fun!

It helped me walk ~250 miles lately working on the app and crossed all of Switzerland.

Looking forward to see how many steps our launch users will collectively clock in the first month!

Another super clever idea from an awesome team!

Seems a bit like @Fog of World — but where the rewards for getting your steps in are @Gowalla - The Social Map -style postcards and stamps!

Phill Ryu

@chrismessina Thanks Chris for hunting our new app!

Making walks feel like a game is just genius—tbh I def need that motivation to get off my butt more often. Can’t wait to see how far I go!

Cruise Chen

and yea, if there is some feature like unlocking next map after certain steps that would be interesting

Phill Ryu

@cruise_chen we are selling premium packs, but allowing people to unlock them for free by saving up and spending enough steps. It'll be interesting to see the split there!

Such a fun concept - I’d definitely walk more if I could see my steps add up to something. Does Walk the World let you share your milestones with friends too?

Phill Ryu

@ha_anh_nguyen for now when you complete a walk you get a postcard image with the steps walked for it and date completed! (There are some more stats in the 'Passport' but it's just screenshot to share for now.)

I’ve tried a lot of fitness apps, but tying steps to iconic locations is genius. Can’t wait to see which map routes are available.

I love how Walk the World turns daily steps into epic map milestones, collecting souvenirs feels like unlocking a mini-adventure every day!.
