As we already know, Twitter and other social media are a chaotic place to follow and read updates from products we love. So I built this site where all you can do is follow products and read updates from them. No Follower counts nor any comments.
Very interesting idea!
How long has it works already?
It seems to me that you should consider categories for the published products & definitely more explanation which products can or cannot be published.
A lot of work ahead. Anyway, my sincere congratulations on the launch today and good luck!
@yaroslava Thank you Yaroslava π
yes, need to figure out how to categorize products.
Right now I'm not planning to restricting any products other than NSFW.
What I'm still struggling is with the terminology used in the website "Product". It could mean anything but I'm looking to onboard products which usually has Changelog page or announcements page. Thought about "SaaS" but it might be too limiting.
One of goal with this launch is to figure out the messaging/positioning of WhatsNew.co and see how I can improve so yes, lot of work ahead :D
@onerinas as for the goal here. Yeah, you can have some ideas after considering what products are actually published.
But let's help people a little.
- You may start a discussion in this thread, on PH, on social media, etc.
- "SaaS" is too limited, I agree, but it's a good category you should consider. At the moment you may add in description every category you'd like to have (SaaS, products which usually have changelog or announcement page...). The more people understand what your product is for, the easier for them it will be to engage.
Anyway, it worth remembering that people may start using your product in more unexpected ways:-)
Hi! Congrats on your launch. I have tried it out and it looks simple and handy. Great work!
Are you going to have integrations with Google/Facebook/etc, so the users could sign in quickly? That would help you to get more users.
@anastasiia_holiachenko thanks a ton for the feedback.
I always preferred login with email in other services but didn't go with that since it needed custom work and doesn't come out of the box with the library I'm using.
Your comment pushed to work on it, so thanks to you :)
π Hey fellow makers and product enthusiasts, how is it going?
I'm someone who is not on too many social media (especially not on anything Facebook π). So the way I catch up with product updates and announcements is either by following their Twitter pages or signup for Newsletters.
π€― It works for me to some great extent but always felt like little bit chaotic.
π§βπ» So I took the chance (or should I say my developer instinct kicked in π) and built a platform where we can follow products we love and stay up to date with product updates and sneak peeks from them.
π If you are a product owner, maker, entrepreneur, or a company, I would like to invite you to create a page for your product in WhatsNew.co.
@bochkovaleks Thank you very much Aleks, it means a lot. Hoping to see more changelogs/product announcements posted by in the website π€

@onerinas This product would solve a huge problem for me, but the products I am intrested in are not there so I can subscribe.
I would be intrested in:
- Notion
- Linear
- GraphCMS
- Retool
- vscode
- Flutter
- Dart
- Hookdeck
- Codemagic
- Slack
- Chargebee
- Figma
- Jetbrains Rider
- Jetbrains Datagrip
- Whereby
- Github
If you make those available, don't know how you can do it, then this product would be amazing.
@niklas_raab1 I have been thinking about how to onboard them. If they have RSS page or Changelog page, I can sync them into our website
Just the meta details like title, description, and link to post so we don't copy the whole content.
Then later official person can come in and take over after domain verification.
Thanks a lot for the suggest. This is a super valuable thing to add. I've already started looking how to integrate them π

@onerinas Cool :)
I would also add a feature, where users can suggest products they want to see integrated and let them vote, so you know in which priority to add them to your site.
@solomon_bush what API are you looking for? I'm guessing an API endpoint to add a new post would be handy?

Congratulations on the launch - great idea to have a go-to space for discovering new tools! Just created a page, it was super quick and simple.
One suggestion: Would be cool if the categories we add were tags. This way we can filter and explore products by category.
@tanyasharma Thanks Tanya π
Regarding the tags, let me see how I can handle it. There was not even a Category when I launched today.
That was something added today based on a suggestion got here. Also the whatsnew.co/categories page was added today (which is generated based on what user enters in Category field for products)
I'll look into the Categories users added after couple of days and see what we can do there :)
If I'm not wrong, what you are looking for is a way to have multiple category/tags for each product. Is that correct?

Wow, that's some speedy implementation :D
and yes, exactly!
Hey @onerinas, maybe you could add the changelogs/tweets/rss feeds of established products to their profiles until they claim their accounts on your site. That way your readers get value from your page, even without every product joining on day one.
@felix_hau yes, this would help.
One more person suggested the same. So added a page to know which are products I need to add first: https://whatsnew.co/product-sugg...
Based on the votes, Iβll try to add pages for them and figure out a way to sync data from their official changelog or RSS feed.
