EDIT: we didn't actually think people would leave us any $$$ since this is a free "pay what you want" resource. Turns out some people are! So we decided that any amount we collect will be entirely donated to Indian covid relief. We are not sure yet what organization we will give to, because we're not really experts, but if you know a trustworthy NGO that fights Covid in India, please tell us in the comments!

Hey PH!
We just launched YesPromo, a free 🚀 collection of 100+ successful self promotion posts for makers and founders.
We realized Reddit was a huge 💪 opportunity to find users, but writing high-performing copy that doesn't get flagged as SPAM by moderators is HARD 🤬. So we researched self promotion posts and gathered the most successful ones into an Airtable.
Here's what you get:
💬 100+ (currently 103) posts across 30+ different Subreddits
📋 For each post: Title, Subreddit, Upvotes, Comments, Engagement Rate, Link, Media Types
It's free to download but you can chose to pay a little something to show your appreciation!
Cheers!
Thomas
For some reason I can't add my business partner as a maker, but he also deserves credit! So here's his Twitter handle 👉 @tibo_maker (and he Tweets a lot more than I do so following him will be worth it)
@thomas_jacquesson1 Congratulations!!!! 💯 👏 Just followed on twitter & got this insightful knowledge about Reddit. I have no knowledge on how to use Reddit. I guess this will help me as a maker and it will help many makers out there! Well done! much love from Singapore 🇸🇬

@thomas_jacquesson1 hi! I'd just like to say, your generosity will be extremely valuable for the people in India, thank you so much for extending help and support in any way you could :D and congratulations on the launch! A suggestion for an NGO would be Goonj Rahat Covid or Give India and Hemkunt Foundation.
@kenmoo Hey and thanks for the feedback!
We'll update it regularly and perhaps even add our own analysis to it. In terms of niche, you have a lot of different stuff. The dominating niche is products for makers, but you also have posts about sales, SaaS, Design, Marketing and more.
Please avoid self-promoting on Reddit.
There is a reason why subreddits flag them as spam — because they are. People want to enjoy their hobby together, and it’s very annoying to have a blatant advertisement shoved in between genuine posts.
Imagine if you have a loose-knit group of fishing enthusiasts you go out with every afternoon to go fishing. One day, you’re happily talking to someone about your favorite bait, when someone suddenly barges in and says “check out my NEW fishing lure I made! It’s ONLY $39.99! Check it out!!” You’d be very annoyed, especially when you find out that the person joined the group JUST to sell their lure. You might have to get the organizer of the fishing group to ban the person from trying to sell their product.
So what’s the solution? It’s probably best to just purchase advertisements. That way, it’s obvious that your post is a promotion. Otherwise, use the 90% guideline — 90% of your posts have to be GENUINE participation with ZERO intention to sell. Even so, you may want to reach out to the moderators beforehand to ask for permission.
Reddit communities are NOT to be “leveraged”. Be respectful — they’re real hobbyists who are trying to facilitate genuine conversation. Every subreddit has its own trends and vibe, and by viewing them as a marketing tool you are greatly disrupting them. Be a PARTICIPANT first and foremost and an advertiser second.
@willye you’ll find with the examples we selected that they bring value to the community.
We believe as long as posts are constructive and not just shameless attempts at driving traffic, everybody wins. The community because they get value from the person’s post. And the maker who manages to talk about what he built
Congrats on the launch👏
I'm active on Reddit and some subs are aggresive to any self-promotion. I was banned one time😅
Found out new principles on your list to do it more personal and friendly
@rtkirill That's awesome! Indeed, being personal seems important. I would advise you not to try to hide your the maker and make a clever tagline, but rather focus on your own journey and talk with your own voice.
@thomas_jacquesson1 reddit is weird sometimes. once my post was taken down because of self promotion (it contained the link to the original blogpost), the other way I went with 100% self promotion post, paid docker course on Docker subreddit and it was good. 160 upvotes, been there in Hot section all day

Not being seen as spammy on Reddit is indeed complicated. Thanks for your work and for offering to give the money collected to India
