I’ve built a whole "Website-as-a-Service" platform around Astro, and honestly, it completely changed how I run my agency. We build super-fast static landing pages and corporate sites for local businesses (like auto repair shops, beauty salons, and cafes) and ship them in just a couple of days.

By pairing Astro with Cloudflare Pages and a headless Laravel backend, we can launch dozens of projects without hitting any scaling walls or piling up infrastructure costs. The best part? 100/100 Lighthouse scores right out of the box with zero optimization pain, and our clients get rock-solid reliability for the price of a daily coffee. The developer experience is just top-notch.

What needs improvement

It’s hard to complain because the framework is brilliant, but I’d really love to see better, more seamless integration with Angular components. Right now, if you are coming from or working within an Angular ecosystem, making it play nicely with Astro's islands architecture can still feel a bit like a second-class experience compared to React or Svelte. Making Angular support rock-solid out of the box would be a huge win for enterprise-leaning devs. Other than that, the core team is doing an amazing job!

vs Alternatives

I also looked at classic SSGs, but Astro won me over because of its component model and partial hydration. It lets me build a unified UI kit, scale to massive multi-page projects (like our other 700+ page multilingual catalog site), and still keep the client-side JavaScript bundle near zero. Moving away from the heavy legacy CMS approach was the smartest choice for my business model.

I use Astro in Claude to build all my websites. I've moved all WordPress sites to Astro. I can't say enough how much I've enjoyed it building with it and using it for SEO. It's faster, easier, more customizable, more affordable...the list goes on. Absolutely love it.

For me, the development experience with Astro has been fantastic. I’ve used it to build several content-driven websites, which is exactly the type of site Astro excels at. However, Astro is not limited to static content sites—it's now capable of handling backend APIs, making full-stack development possible. That’s why I’m also using Astro to develop various full-stack websites. I remember seeing a member of the Astro founding team mention that they hope people find it almost impossible to build slow websites with Astro. I really admire this mindset and dedication, and I hope Astro continues to become even more powerful and user-friendly in the future.

Astro has changed the way I write static pages forever. This is a way too good piece of software tooling for frontend devs. It has ironed out many issues I face, while offering a simple and easy way to write webpages, especially with Type saftey even inside markdown. And the fact that you can write components in almost any framework is amazing as well... The islands architecture is really nice, opting into interactivity as needed. View Transitions in Astro is unparalleled. Starlight is an amazing docs framework. Finally time to move off of VitePress, even if it was pretty good.

I use this as frontend for my knowledge base, so that I can have it without Obsidian installed or anywhere without syncing entire base! Absolute elegant and straight forward! Just a symlink to contents then build...rocket!
