I do like this better, less glitches and such yet, it doesn't separate my files into its own category when I open the app. Screenshots are mixed in with pictures on the slidly thing yet, the old version didn't have this issue. I do love this app but it's hard for me to use when I'm making videos or just trying to find the right picture of a family member. I will be open to emails and screenshots if needed

Did it update recently? It used to save my places In PDF files and let me tap the page to hide the title/drop-down bar but now it's letting me do neither. All my last viewed pages are now unsaved so opening a PDF brings me back to page one, which is a hassle on longer documents. It's been a few days and it still hasn't reverted to how it used to work.

No access to network devices. This app needs the ability to scan networks for storage devices (like Samsung files) or at least the ability to manually configure a network connection (like iPhone). I work with my NAS daily as well as other computers on my network and not having the ability to access them is a MAJOR hindrance. Im pretty sure the reason Google is hiding this decades old file feature is to get people to pay for G drive which seems quite anticompetitive is you ask me...

What’s new
- Ask Gemini about a PDF file in Files by Google. Say “Hey Google” or press & hold the power button, tap “Ask about this PDF”, then ask a question. To use this feature, your device must have Android 15, a Gemini Advanced subscription, and use Gemini as your assistant app. This feature will be rolling out soon.
- Use Quick Share to receive files directly from Files by Google.
- Move files to the Safe Folder from the Recents section without opening them.
