Been using it since it’s 1.0 version. It makes it so quick to set timers up. I’ll give it a 5 star once it implements a way of saving current timers during a reboot/log off (besides having Apple Reminders sync).
One of the Two Best Timer Apps
For starters, if you are wondering whether to get the original, first Gestimer app or this second one, I would say it is a matter of preference. Up until recently I preferred the first app more, as I was used to it's design and was admittedly a little put off by the purple color in this one (which is nitpicky, I know).
They are both great apps. Simple, well made, responsive. There isn't much more to say than that because of the simplicity and usefulness.
I was originally going to write this review to say all of the above but also to mention that one caveat to this second iteration is that it seems a little less responsive than the first. Specifically when initially clicking to begin the dragging motion to set a timer. However with the most recent update it actually does feel better and seem faster - thanks developer!
Other things I think would be great for this:
- allow user to customize the color in the timer progress bar/the app's overall accent color (maybe a preselected list of colors similar to the ones in the accent color options for Mac's system preferences)
- another (or a few!) different icon styles for the timer progress bar
If you need a timer app, to me both this one and the first one are worth trying to see which one you like the look and feel of more. 5/5 in all ways!!
Nice app
i've had this app for years and just upgraded to the 2nd version, I appreciate the discount bundle for prior customers - makes me feel good about spending money on this already good app.
As for new features, the progress bar is really helpful, but I wish there was a way to hide the minutes count down- the numbers make me a bit anxious.
If you have the old version, this new version is not radically different - which is a great thing - but you might not necessarily need to spend 3 dollars. Though if a progress bar is more your speed, this is definitely the way to go - simple, efficient and elegant!f
