Free vs Premium

I like the app and would like to understand what would I gain by purchasing the premium version. I cannot find clear explanation anywhere on the web or within the app. Send question to support but after a week no response.

Just a side note about the name. I think it is unfortunate to call it “carrot …”. For person whose looking for medical lab results trucking it’s almost impossible to find it and even more difficult to find any results about the app.

All that said the free version of the app works very well and definitely worth exploring.

Developer Response ,

Hi! Thanks for sticking with us despite our communication hiccups. We promise we're working on it. We're extremely small team (fit in a phone both small) so takes time for us to catch up on things.

As for our name, you're right - 'Carrot Care' does sound more like a veggie-sitting service than a medical app. But hey, at least we're not 'Turnip Tracker' or 'Broccoli Biomarkers'?! We'll take your feedback to heart and see if we can improve it/change it..

Now, about those elusive premium features. We clearly need to work on it so we'll figure out how to make them clearer on the app and on the website.

And finally thank you for the kind words about our free version. We're glad it's working well for you - that's music to our ears... and our code.

Not there yet

I have uploaded multiple PDFs and the same results in screenshot form hoping for better results. At this point, the identification is so bad it’s unusable. It needs to automatically identify the collection date as stated on every results file. Currently it needs to be manually entered and if you forget every single result needs to be manually changed to show the date. Obviously it’s useless for tracking health to upload past labs and have them all marked as today’s date. Second, the ranges aren’t getting imported, so you can’t see where your results are according to the lab. Third, it’s importing a lot of items either as duplicates or just without any number at all meaning you have to manually enter each one. Some of my labs are being imported with thirty items for me to manually enter and then it seems to require me to re-add the date for each for each one. So the app can’t help me, I’d be better off just making. My own spreadsheet at this point

Developer Response ,

Hello! We’re constantly improving our OCR functionality and if you could contact us with more information on what lab you use so we can make adjustments to the import goes flawlessly? Hope we can fix things for you here!

Really promising

The app can scan test results in pdf or image formats issued by any medical facility and captures data for specific biomarkers.

The scanning is done within the app but this can create mistakes while reading sometimes (guess the algorithms need better vetting). However, the user can send pdf files to the developers for scanning and that gives much better accuracy. The results from the latter can be downloaded and then deleted from their servers (according to given instructions).

I am half way through accumulating around 10 years of data on this app, and the overall picture it offers is quite useful. The records can be downloaded as a unified pdf or backed up to iCloud. Not sure where the backup file is put on iCloud though and if it can be accessed via the app from another device. The pdf currently lacks the graphs offered in the app but perhaps that is yet to come.

Overall, the app is stable and very promising. It would be great to have more instructions/details on using and importing or exporting, and hope the developers will continue the good work.

Developer Response ,

Thank you for the warm feedback! Excited to hear you enjoy having the full history in the app and it works great for you.

Regarding the PDF graphs, we wanted to make the PDF export lightweight so people can bring those to their doctors. Engineers are looking into whether we can make the graph in PDF happen.

We’re actively working on a new “Medical Files” feature so tests can be interlinked with original files. We’re also constantly improving our OCR/tests recognition service. Stay tuned!
