Purchase options and add-ons

Customers, followers, subscribers.

It's easy to just look at the numbers. How many likes? How many purchases? How many email subscribers?

But as entrepreneurs, we have to remember that there are people behind all that data. People who are looking to us to be a leader, to give advice, and to care. In this dog-eat-dog world, these are the people who are looking for someone who they can trust, and who they know have their best interests in mind.

These are the people, if you connect with them in the right way, who will become Superfans.

Followers may "like" an Instagram post. Customers may buy a product. But "Superfans" will be your biggest supporters. They will promote you and your products because they know you have made a difference in their lives. They will tell their friends. They will send you encouraging emails.

Whether you're a shy YouTuber just starting out, or the leader of a Fortune 500 company, your superfans are out there waiting for you to connect with them.

You don't need to change the entire world to build a successful business; you just need to change someone's world.

People don't become superfans the moment they find you. They become superfans because of the magical moments you create for them over time.

My 5 Takeaways from Reading "Superfans"
Pat starts out by saying… ”You don’t need to change the entire world to build a successful business; you just need to change someone’s world.” p. 26 With that in mind, Pat builds on Kevin Kelly’s concept of “1000 True Fans”. What if you could change clients and customers into Superfans? What if you could take casual, active and connected clients, and move them up the ladder into Superfans? How do you build your 1000 true fans? This is the concept of the book. The book is a good quick read, organized into five parts and 19 chapters. But I will give you my five lessons or takeaways I learned from reading Superfans.Fred’s Five Takeaways from Superfans1. While I have about 250 clients in my website business (at the time of this writing), I currently only have 37 Superfans. Superfans for me, are clients who would buy anything and everything I produce and currently spend more than $100 year, year after year consistently. What would happen to my business if I was to grow that to 1000 superfans?2. My superfans exist not because of my B to B or B to C, but because of P to P: the person-to-person relationship. Furthermore, my clients who are superfans, when asked feel I am their friend.3. I can increase my "DWDites" (my superfans name Chapter 11), by engaging them more, returning every handshake (Chapter 5), making personal thank you videos (Chapter 15), opening the factory doors (Chapter 9) and remembering the lemons (Chapter 14).4. Not all clients are the same. I need to create a Platinum service, access, and experience. (Chapter 17).5. I am wrong in my thinking to try to double and grow 200 new web clients a year. What if instead, I try to grow 50 more Superfans instead? This book has changed my focus on how I see customer service. This book has changed my perspective on how I can serve my clients. This book is well written. Nowadays my attention span to get through a book is hard because of social media as a deter. This book reminds readers it's just not about the presence of having a social media presence and hope for the best to grow. The book goes into the importance of your communication presence to your following and how to maintain genuine interest in your community you are growing to your brand. The Archetype explains it all.

I found myself less interested in the more established business stories however I still was able to read the entire book. Great writing.

'Superfans' is an extremely useful book and as expected…showered with Pat's spirit of generosity. This should be a ‘required read’ if your goal is to grow a community. As usual, Pat shares great experiences, resources and walks us through the strategies he uses to move a community up the fan pyramid. As well, he provides a free, ‘Superfan Bonus Companion Course’ that can be taken while you read his book which is full of videos and downloads. A great summer read, too.
