Hey everyone, this is Dharmesh. Thrilled to show you a project I've been coding away on for several months. It's called GrowthBot and it's a chatbot for growth professionals (marketing, sales, startup folks, etc.). It talks to over a dozen systems and APIs to bring a bunch of cool, useful features. Secret-squirrel handshake: Once you're in the bot, send the message: product hunt rocks (must type it exactly that way) and you'll jump the link and get access to private beta features. @briancurliss Even before I started HubSpot, I've been tinkering with text-based interfaces to enterprise software (yeah, I'm a real hoot at parties). But finally, the tech is getting around to where you can implement some NLP and people are used to messaging bots. And, the real reason: I wanted it for myself. So I built it for myself.

I've been using @dharmesh's bot and I'm excited. It's a much faster way to get to content and information that I use every day when doing marketing, sales and growth work. I particularly like looking up the technologies that websites are using as well as getting to the new popular content out there. Worth checking out for any one who wants a useful bot in their lives. GrowthBot may end up being your new best friend!

@dharmesh, I really think you're on to something here. Not only is it fun, but I can see how it will start to become extremely valuable to marketing and sales people especially as it grows in knowledge. There is something satisfying about receiving an immediate and direct answer to a question as I am used to reading through huge blog posts with vague conclusions. A trend I am sure we will start to see more of in marketing (Give me the best answer with speed). I'm so pumped to see where this goes Dharmesh! Thanks for releasing and not waiting for it to be perfect, this way we can help you make it better and get the word out! 👊

@johnstokman Thanks, you made my day! I too agree with the potential utility of this. I'll be adding new "skills" every week, and connecting to more marketing/sales systems. The thing I love about building bots is that you can add relatively sophisticated functionality (behind the scenes) and test it out, without complicating the interface for everyone. All feedback is welcome and appreciated. Let me know what you'd like to see!

@dharmesh Would be awesome to have the ability to find persons at a specific company with "Some Phrase" in their title -- e.g. if you search titles w/ "product" GrowthBot returns persons who work at the company w/ "product" in their job title... add prospecting integration and boom, game over for Sales. Love the product so far, great work!

@camero_n Funny you should say that. I'm in the middle of working on that feature right now. I *almost* got it done in time for the beta launch this morning, but didn't quite make it (was up until 3am getting things ready for the onslaught of Product Hunt traffic). But, this is definitely coming. Example command: who is the CEO of Dropbox?

Looks great for the first release. Like how the replies come along on typing in the exact commands. What do you think about the length of the commands Dharmesh?

@reachrishabh Most of the commands support a wide range of variations (including very short ones). Like email lookup . But, in the examples, I show them as a bit verbose because it helps the bot be a bit more conversational and approachable. But, like everything else, I'm testing to see what makes the most sense. Thanks for trying it out.

@rs_raghavan Oh yes, I have many, many plans. :) Plan is to add at least one new "skill" (as Alexa might call it) a week. I'm a big believer in release (very) early, but then release (very) often. Stay tuned.

One wish would be to be able to use other ways to get access it, i.e. email signup / twitter oauth / etc. and not just via Facebook Messenger.

@paulsavage Absolutely. Don't tell anyone, but it works over SMS: +1-617-202-2112. Also works on Slack (but that's in testing). Email support sort of works, and twitter is next. Stay tuned.
