@ricotrevisan All data will be stored within our decentralised system that we built in-house. In the coming months, we'll be moving all uploads to a distributed model, using IPFS. This is much faster than traditional blockchain based storage. I highly recommend reading into IPFS as it's a new protocol that will change how we use the web today.

Although there are a few bugs (expected in the beta), the Sociall community is strong and passionate about the platform.

Jade (the founder) has been fully transparent with the community and has taken feedback on board. Definitely looking good so far.

Pros:

A decentralised and secure alternative to Facebook? Sign me up! I love knowing my data is safe. Integrated wallet will be a major positive.

Cons:

Currently closed beta - open beta will hopefully be released in the coming weeks

This looks amazing and I like it. The idea is great. It has a neat UI. Looks like something that could grow. Whitepaper makes sense..... except. Does this need a whitepaper? No wait... excuse me...does this need another freakin cryptocurrency/token for a f'in social network? You know that you hamper your audience with this? I ain't using a social network my friends won't use. And they won't. Because people get scared away when you mention crypto. Because I don't wanna have another wallet. Because I don't care about freaking tokens and exchanges. Also a debit card? A DEBIT CARD? Just focus on the social network part. Real world users don't care about tokens. But I assume in the crypto echo chamber everyone will say it's great and amazing and hype it to each other. I feel like this will fail. I hope you manage to prove me wrong. But I don't see this going mainstream.

The reason we decided to use a native cryptocurrency is so that our users are not charged with conversation fees, from AUD->USD for example. Thanks to our native token, called SCL, we can offer a true peer-to-peer marketplace for all Sociall users with minimal fees. We are working on a decentralised hosted wallet where users on Sociall can securely store and send their SCL without any technical knowledge. Everything regarding "crypto" will be in the background, and the clean Sociall UI on the frontend will handle everything in a painless way for the user. We will also allow users to "top-up" their wallet with SCL with USD or other payment methods. It completely eliminates the need for any technical knowledge or cryptocurrency exchanges. The debit card is a way for users on Sociall to spend their SCL instantly. For example, if you sell something on the Sociall marketplace and would like to spend your SCL right away, you can do so via the Sociall instant access debit card after you make the sale. What's your growth strategy? To replace general social networks like Facebook or will you focus on niches (online communities that don't require all my friends to signup in order to be valuable)? Also, I wonder why you focus so much on the cryptocurrency and wallet in your video. Assuming general people would see this first, is this really what they care for? (instead of privacy or other USP).

@rutgerbevers Hi Rutger. Great questions! We're working alongside a reputable marketing firm in Melbourne to assist us with this. At the moment, we're only targeting the crypto/blockchain industry to gather the first wave of users. Afterwards, we'll begin broadening our audience once the platform is more stable and consists of more core features. I like that suggestion. We'll start working on a very that consists of just USP instead of focusing on the crypto part. I think a video like that would work much better on the landing page of Sociall, and it should hopefully stop scaring off the ones who tend to sway away from crypto. Thanks!
