Is AI a must have technology in a product?

Last month, I attended the Rio Web Summit, the largest tech event in Latin America. 84% of the tech talks focused on AI. This trend is well-known, but my impression is that if you aren’t implementing AI in your product, you're likely to be left behind. What do you think? In my opinion, integrating AI makes sense only if it truly solves a specific problem. Following a trend alone shouldn't justify adding features to your product. This could shift the focus away from what really matters: solving the actual job to be done. By the way, Pluga, the product I'm working on, hasn't implemented AI yet. We are still growing rapidly and will begin our internationalization process in a few weeks. If you want to follow our release, keep an eye on: https://www.producthunt.com/prod...

That the clearance of NPL models has brought a great wind of novelty is undeniable. However, I believe that at the moment there is a lot of hype behind the phenomenon, as was also the case with blockchain in the early years of bitcoin. Certainly today having an AI of any kind in one's application is an added value, both for attracting users and for attracting potential investors. Consider, for example, that in Italy there are numerous public tenders for the funding of projects that implement elements of artificial intelligence. At the end of the day, however, 7 out of 10 of the AIs you see being applied around are nothing more than OpenAI wrappers disguised as something else.

@filippo_calabrese Exactely! You got the same perception than I. I see many people taking OpenAI applications and filtering their power to aim someone's necessity packing as a new fancy product

Yes, but it doesnt mean it all of it. Because AI is still a lifeless tool that needs to be maintained and monitored regularly. AI can be useful in some parts of a system. for automation, loading and engagements. That's why we created our platform Shockwave: Social farming SaaS Leverage social farming and gamification. It uses interaction-based scores and leaderboards to foster engagement, boosting fanbases and sales in a cost-effective manner. AI should not be integrated for AI's sake. With that being said, I believe a lot (if not most) projects profit from AI in one way or another. So it makes sense that there's such a strong focus on it. AI should always complement the ideas of the product and not just be a forced feature to be able to write "AI-powered" on the home page.
