Whether you're into design field or not, you make decisions everyday, every step of your way at work and at home. Design has a big role to play there. Do you think? If so, why?

Design is essential to me because it's the bridge between a product's functionality and its users, making complex systems accessible and enjoyable to interact with. A great design not only solves problems but also evokes emotions and connects with people on a deeper level.

Design is vital to me because it's the bridge between a product's intent and its user experience, transforming complex ideas into accessible solutions. It not only enhances functionality but also evokes emotions, making interactions memorable and meaningful.

@heyalbert Good to know! You added a very valid point from the perspective of a user/customer. Thank you for that

From my 18+ years of experience in this industry, design is fundamentally about caring for the customer. It focuses on improving user experience, which sells but also builds long-term relationships. Effective design considers the user's needs at every step, ensuring that their interaction is not just functional but enjoyable. This deep care for the user's experience is what makes design the most important part of any business.

@gene_nemirovsky i come from a hardware background but this is really true. best product design companies in the consumer electronic industry pour an insane budget into user studies and understanding the corner cases of different users from different backgrounds

@gene_nemirovsky Very very true. Customer experience is the most important thing for anything design. Some people/companies mistake "good looking" to be user-friendly. When in fact it is only a part of being enjoyable for the user. You rightly said, "This deep care for the user's experience is what makes design the most important part of any business."

@yukioyama - Yes actually in hardware products, it's 10% easier to think about various use cases of the product and design it accordingly. But for the intangible products, most companies don't "feel the need" of doing the same. They only think about how it looks and that's it. Great customer experience goes wayyy beyond that. Isn't it?

@vertikanigam It does go way beyond that, you're so right. Whats separates a great software from a meh one.

design is just what makes me love a product honestly. apple is so great about attention to design detail and telling a story, which is what makes its marketing so powerful in my opinion
Share
@yukioyama Oh, Apple is awesome at it. Design impacts the user-friendliness of the product, and what the customer "feels" about their experience using it. When such a product is marketed, it has an overwhelming response from the customers, and sales shoot up. Thank you for bringing the "marketing" aspect into the conversation.

The design is alpha and omega. We "scan" things including texts. And we can absorb information faster when it is given visually. So design is not important only to certain people. Matters a lot on the subconscious level.

@busmark_w_nika "The design is alpha and omega." What a statement, you girl! Another important thing as you said is that design is something that people absorb at subconscious level. This is exactly why it's super important to go beyond visual appeal and think from a level that's before actually building the design. Design solves problems, changes people's emotions and let them take control of their journey to discover what you offer.
