(Cofounder here) One other thing that I think seriously helped was professional design branding. Between our logo and our screenshots on ProductHunt, we looked like a serious product - not an MVP that was launching.
That first impression gave people a reason to keep reading.
We came in #3! Lessons learned:
Hardcover is a social network for people to track what they read and want to read, make lasting connections with other readers and find life-changing books. We're anti-Amazon, pro-author, actively pursuing feedback and just getting started. 📚

It's been a pleasure building Hardcover with you @stelofo ! It's tough to find people to work with that are both talented and I'd want to hang out with. That's not something easy to interview for.
One thing that's helped I think is our weekly calls where we just catch up on each others lives and then do some product work.

I’ve had maybe 2 posts go viral on ProductHunt ever - and I posted both of them. 😅
Both were “lessons learned” kind of posts, sharing a mistake and how it was resolved.
I do wonder what people who have repeatedly gotten on the front page are doing differently.
What's the etiquette on being featured on HackerNews?

Ohh, that's a neat idea. Kind of like pair programming, but using it for design feedback.
Trying to train myself to ask questions in my head and then ask those to Chat GPT has been tricky. Retraining myself after years of Googling when I have a question takes time.
Are you planning on using GPT4 to roast your site?

I loved "Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow". As someone who isn't too familiar with the creative process for building a video game it gave some new insights into that area – while also having characters that didn't seem like I've seen before.
What's the best book you read lately?

👋 Hey hey Product Hunters!
I’m Adam, a Co-founder of Hardcover, the social discovery platform for finding new life-changing books.
Last year, Goodreads announced they were discontinuing their API. After using their API for over a decade, I couldn’t believe it! My years of data would no longer be accessible. I snarkily tweeted that I should build an alternative book platform out of spite for...
