Hi! I'm the CEO and one of the founders of Mode. From the company's inception, we have been focused on speed. Specifically, making analysts and data scientists as fast as possible at answering their businesses' burning questions. We focused on this at the expense of dashboarding, for which our competitors have built slow, heavy tools that offer lots of functionality to non-technical end...

Hi! I'm the CEO and one of the founders of Mode. The product we're launching today is completely free and includes the core elements of Mode — a clean interface to do analysis in SQL, Python, or R, take that analysis and build it into visualizations and reports, and then share it with anyone at your company. I'll be around all day to answer questions.

Thanks for posting, Kevin!
When we first launched Mode, it was really geared toward analysts who were answering ad-hoc questions. In my own analytical career, that's how I've spent 90% of my time. I spent somewhere under 10% of my time building dashboards. I hear this from others pretty frequently, too.
But dashboards are important. It's important to have dashboards in places people can see...

From Mode's earliest days, we've thought about how data analysis and collaboration go hand-in-hand. The first folks to ever use our product were analytics teams who wanted to borrow and re-use each other's work. Since then it's evolved to entire companies sharing their most important insights through Mode. At that scale (at any scale, really), dashboards and analysis are most effective when...

Hi everyone! I wrote SQL School for all the folks in marketing/biz dev/finance/product who want to level up their data skills. It's written in plain english and omits a bunch of complex stuff that you would only need as a developer or DBA. Happy to answer any questions.

Thanks @drewdil & @mijuhan! We're really excited to see Mode being used extensively by PMs. For folks just learning about Mode, product people often use Mode to explore complex product usage questions that require flexibility and context that only direct database queries can provide. As mentioned above, we make it easy to visualize and share your answers to those tough questions.

@eriktorenberg the product launched today, so there hasn't been much opportunity yet. That said, we're definitely seeing early interest from data journalists and bloggers. If you want to see Mode in the wild, you can should out our blog: http://blog.modeanalytics.com/where-americans-think-they-live/
