Desiree Peterkin Bell's path to success was shaped by early challenges, including a period of homelessness that motivated her to prioritize education. Her commitment to learning led her to excel in the SATs and gain admission to two prestigious boarding schools. However, her time there was marked by challenges, including an incident that exposed her to the realities of racism and privilege. Despite these obstacles, Desiree persevered and graduated from high school with a renewed commitment to addressing social issues. Desiree went on to attend Swarthmore College, where she majored in Political Science and Education while also excelling in athletics. She was honored with the Dean’s Award for her outstanding academic performance and community service.
