Devil is in the details.
How many parameters are "few"?
How much documentation do I have to read to get started?
How soon will I reach the limitations of this system? This last question is the most difficult one. You need to know what I'm trying to build to answer it. So you need to understand the segments of your potential users and which ones to target. The biggest mistake will be to go for...

What are you building? We found a prototype + Twitter quite effective.
Tweets lead users to the prototype and from there we get them to sign up.
Make sure to have clear CTAs on the prototype that prompt people to sign up.

A Plan B- mitigation plan if there's serious issues found before, or during, the release.
Not sure what your team looks like but you'll want very clear escalation procedures and communication protocols. As simple as possible. Share a template with the team along the lines of
"Issue with :
Impact: "
Someone should be assigned release manager with final say on postponing (if issues are found...

Pick whatever you're best at! There's infinite opportunities for great designers and great developers, and the lines are getting blurred by the year.
Don't pick the "optimum" skillset based on someone else's opinion.
Would you rather be a master developer who can design, or a master designer who can code?

Depends on what you're trying to build and your existing skillset.
For someone with design skills looking to make a responsive, interactive website it's great.

Checklists!
Like pilots, we need a clear list of things to check last minute before take off.
Depending on your product this could be double-checking the sign up & login flows (also if there's automated emails make sure they work as expected, test the links in them too), making sure it can be installed if it's an app, anything infrastructure-related, broken links.
The point is that under...

Backend Dev communities?
I've had success finding frontend developers in dedicated communities like Frontend Mentor or even Twitter.
Now I need to hire a backend (Java/SQL/Azure) contractor developer and have no idea where to find them.
I prefer communities over job boards or LinkedIn because the conversation starts organically and you can hire them much faster so any recommendations would be hugely appreciated!
