Love love the space/sector. I've been following and writing about flexible living options for several years now in the GEM.
Have been waiting for price points of share to go down. The problem is, just because consumers want something, doesn't mean it'll make business sense to give it to them. This business is basically doing the same...or more...work as Pacaso, but only able to make a fraction...

Would be cool to have a secret local greet you in the city you arrive in, and even host you for a couple nights of accommodation. Just saying :)

The personal recommends space is a super super tough space to make a living at. To my knowledge, everyone who has tried past approaches to this (such as Gemshare - https://www.geekwire.com/2014/gemshare/) have failed to gain traction / last. What's different about Likewise, that will enable it to succeed in a space so many others have failed in?

We've been working on @gethorizonapp for a couple years to facilitate home sharing / hospitality exchange among friends, friends of friends, and communities (like Peace Corps and StartingBloc). While we've had a giveback model since the beginning (Travel by Giving benefitting Kiva) -- we've made a number of changes in terms of the business for this new model:

Stay a Night, Give a Night
Couchsurfing to end homelessness
Stay a Night, Give a Night is a creative program to allocate tourism dollars to one of Seattleās most pressing social issues: homelessness.
Travelers stay with a local during their visit to Seattle. As thanks for host's hospitality, for every night they stay, they fund the equivalent of one night's shelter for a homeless child at Mary's Place.

Absolutely love the mission/goal, but curious how this is going to avoid the long, long graveyard of similar startups? I have my own battle scars from a similar product (@ohheyworld), and working on a second attempt to solve the same challenge.

I love this space in general, @em_johnson ... however, how do you solve supply and demand at the same time? Are you only focused on a few select cities, and only a few select types of guides?
It seems a distribution deal with Lyft or Uber would be by far the best way to reach travelers in a new city cost effectively.
I've built a few travel apps with the goal of connecting like-minded people...

Very simple yet cool product. I don't personally run an AirBnB, but totally see the use case.

Very, very cool. I'm a huge huge proponent for curation like this (in both real estate and travel). Done well, these sorts of curation sites can certainly take a slice out of AirBnB's business. Time savings of not having to wade through crap listings to find the gems is worth a lot of money to the crowd that cares about architecturally significant homes.

"Get your own Affiliate Channel and start adding Great Products"
I get this from the creator perspective. But why would I use this from the end user/consumer perspective? A "creator" is going to create a list with a bunch of products they can make a commission on. Not necessarily the best products. I don't see the consumer win?
