I pivoted my traditional agency to try and help technical leaders clear backlog, while keeping the solution as flexible and startup-friendly as possible. No retainers, contracts to lock you in, etc.
I wanted to create something simple, and useful for engineering leaders, that was my thinking behind this.

I think when you're bootstrapping or starting with a tight budget, figuring out some basic lead gen on your own is what makes most sense– otherwise you'll forever be dependent on agencies to do that for you, and they can charge any price they want and you'll have limited options. That's my $0.02

I think if you work hours properly, and make sure your hours of work are genuinely focused & productive, you can actually still keep a lot of time for other things– that's my opinion.

Honestly, not sure– I like going out in evenings, but also work well. I think ultimately, you just have to get at working when you can, because as a Founder, sometimes you don't have the luxury of certain decisions.
Adaptability is best, rather than clutching to "Oh I couldn't work yesterday because i only work in evenings, and I had a dinner meeting"

I spent the last year building a Software Agency. These are 3 big mistakes I made. What are yours?
1: Product has to be the best, especially when there's competition. You cannot afford to be sub standard in any way, or you're just going to have a struggling business. Initially, I didn't realise how hard this was.
2: Do the obvious things, that you know you should be doing. Reply to leads faster, spend more time marketing, etc. – you actually know what to do a lot of the time. Sometimes, I...

I bootstrapped a simple agency 0-100K in ~1 year. Here are my top 5 lessons
Firstly, a quick note: it has not been an easy journey at all, by any means. Very irregular, and not linear. Also, 100K is not that much for a development agency (which is what I do), but nonetheless, I think perhaps my story's lessons might help others.
1. Biggest learning: you probably already know what to do.
Most of the time, the advice you keep hearing is what to follow. Re-watching it...

Do you guys think Angel investing makes you a better founder? Not one myself, just curious.
Really open question, honestly. For angels or non-angels.

None at the moment, because I'm not running ads. Most bootstrap product founders probably aren't running loads of ads I reckon (unless they're dropshipping or something). I think generally agencies are the target for this kind of question.

Honestly, I think it comes down to online communities & making content. I don't have a large following, and am figuring it out myself.
I've observed other success stories, and it comes from 2 things:
1: having a really, really good product people want to share for you (word of mouth = exponential)
and 2: Being relentless in posting & creating content. Look at the biggest creators....
What marketing strategy do you recommend to gain followers to a newsletter without a large following
