I manage timelines by focusing on visibility and alignment. I use Jira with a plugin called Focus Flow. It provides a timeline-based heatmap that makes it easy to track team efforts, spot redundant work, and adjust priorities before things go off track. Pairing that with some buffer time for unexpected issues has worked really well for me.
