I think having the iPhone push notifications will really help to build returning users - not only for their own questions they post, but also to be notified when other events happen ie. other people that are in their network post a question or if a certain topic they are passionate about comes up. I've been using Volley since the early days and I am always surprised at the quality of connections I form. Sometimes it is a question on metrics for ecommerce or something as simple as where to find a running group... I have always gotten a response! I think the Volley team is on to something special, and I love their detail to UX and clean design.

@nikkielizdemere, just checked it out - seems like a lot of big names are behind it. Would you compare it to something like a Costco for natural foods. Interesting that they are choosing to use the monthly membership fee with a charitable aspect.

I've heard a lot of great things about Tracy and have heard about her own adventure from taking the leap as a full-time graphic designer to a web-developer, and deciding to code her own web-app from scratch. Pretty huge inspiration for those of us wanting to make a project or idea, but not sure how to get it started.

I really like the direction that @Poppin is going with their new furniture line. There is a huge gap between Ikea and a company like Steelcase for office furniture and "Poppin." is trying to fill the gap. Huge backing from First Round and Burch - excited to watch how their new furniture collection performs.

I'm a little obsessed with Artisan Videos on Reddit these days, and came across MadeClose.com @madeclose, which started initially with local community guides, and now has started to curate a variety of independent brands & responsibly made local goods in different neighborhoods. Looks like they are just getting started with the NYC burrows, but should be an interesting company to watch.
