Tl;dr
1. Make it appealing to other founders.
2. The first 5 words matter the most
3. Logo matters
4. Imagine that your potential upvoters are selecting smth while… driving: extremely little time to pick smth to upvote, and lots of distractions around.
Hi all, I’ve been using ProductHunt for a while launching different projects throughout the years and finally came to my make my own account since I’m preparing for the launch of my startup, tourtailor.ai.
I love how PH motivates people to log in daily with the badges, and, secondly, I wanted to start tracking daily launches to be better prepared for my own.
Here’s what tips I’ll be following myself:
1. Make it appealing to other founders
It's no secret that many people here are founders themselves and what they appreciate are the products they can use themselves. Hence B2B AI platforms, marketing & sales stuff, CRMs, and so on have pretty good chances to get trending.
2. The first 5 words matter the most
&
3. Logo matters
Now... imagine that your potential upvoters are selecting smth while… driving: extremely little time to pick smth to upvote, and lots of distractions around.
Hence they might not spend any extra time trying to figure out what your product does with a secretive "Innovating the business development space using AI". And sometimes a nice clean logo can be that extra thing that can motivate users to actually visit your page and then, maybe, only maybe, upvote & go to your website.
Feel free to share your tips – and wishing you many-many upvotes in the year to come 🎁

Great share. Thanks. The first thing I notice is the logo, then name and then tagline. If it interests me I click to learn more

The fourth point is so important! I always go onto the page and first thing I do is swipe through the marketing assets. I will do a quick flick through and press the video if I want to know more.
If that video doesn’t explain or at least give me an idea of what it is about in the first 15 seconds. Also if it is a long video 2min+ I won’t watch it till the end for sure.
I think you gotta cover both bases for the launch - those who like to read and those who prefer visuals! Make it quick and easy to understand. Just enough to capture their attention and make them want to know more!
Great points Anastasia! I agree with your comments about the logo and the tagline. It should be both catchy and self-explanatory.
