What are the best practices and things to do before launch?

Hi PH,

Our launch is a couple of weeks away and we have been trying to test the product thoroughly with users, improve onboarding and so on!

But, how do you deal with the mixed and contradictory feelings you get, before the launch of fear, excitement, confusion?

How do you get ready for the D-Day?

I've been there. Have been helping a few founders' with their PH launches and the pre-launch stress is like no other. Your mind is bamboozled with random thoughts and you worry for even the slightest mistakes that could happen but haven't happened yet. Will it get enough traction? How will we land top 5? What if site crashes on the launch day? What if the launch fails? Given this stress, CEOs often make the one of the following two mistakes:

1. They take things too personally
2. They do not take things personally enough

The thing is that you will never get to know this until the launch. All that you know is about your product. If you feel what you've built is really valuable to a large market out there, you will eventually get traction because the community here knows what is good and what's not. To deal with your own psyche, try the following:

1. Make some maker friends: Get in close communities, Slack/Telegram groups of fellow makers and founders. Share your launch journey openly and if people like what they see, you will get what you deserve. Sit back, relax and keep building and shipping. This is why I love this maker community so much, everyone is so helpful here. 
2. Get it out of your head and onto the paper: Strategic planning is the best way to reduce your pre-launch stress. What I mean by that is plan your launch properly. Plan how will you distribute the launch news and get some reach on your product page to land in the top products of the day - Email? Twitter? Communities? There are small things that make a big difference like adding a GIF as your product display, proper mockups for better explanation of what your product does and more.
